Bridges, roads, houses - results from people's strength

At the end of September, on Kenh Tam Pho Street, the construction atmosphere of bridge 1,200 (Tinh Trang 12 bridge) was urgent and exciting. The bridge is 32m long, 3m wide, load capacity 2.5 tons, total construction cost 310 million VND, of which Trang An Toan Transport Company Limited ( Can Tho City), through the connection of Ms. Jenny Tieu Kim Oanh (Vietnamese living in Germany) supported 290 million VND; the rest was contributed by the locality and the people.

After completion, the 1,200m bridge will connect Xeo Lung hamlet (Hoa Thuan commune) and Hoa Phu hamlet (Hoa Hung commune), creating favorable conditions for more than 950 households to travel and transport goods. Mr. Tran Van Chuot (53 years old), residing in Xeo Lung hamlet, Hoa Thuan commune, donated 20m of land to build the bridge and shared: "14 years ago, people contributed money and land to build a temporary iron bridge for trading and for children to go to school conveniently. Now that the new, solid bridge is built, I am very excited." Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Hung commune, Nguyen Quoc Phong, said that the bridge project is expected to be completed at the end of October, contributing to the completion of rural traffic infrastructure and promoting socio -economic development. In 2025, the commune will build a road and mobilize people to contribute to the construction of 6 rural traffic bridges, with a total cost of more than 2 billion VND, mobilized from many resources to serve the people.

If in Hoa Hung, the people's strength built the bridge, in Giong Rieng commune, consensus helped poor households settle down. For the past 8 years, Danh Binh (38 years old), residing in Lang Son hamlet, and his wife have lived in a dilapidated thatched house, always afraid of it collapsing during the rainy and stormy season. Recently, his family was given a solidarity house, the construction cost 60 million VND, of which the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune supported 20 million VND, the family contributed 5 million VND, and the rest was sponsored by benefactors. "With a new house, my wife and I can work with peace of mind, rent 2 hectares of land to grow cucumbers, bitter melons, etc. to raise our children," Binh said emotionally.

In Vinh Bac hamlet, Ngoc Chuc commune, a 3,800m long road has just been completed, with 146 flagpoles and solar lights, with a total cost of more than 250 million VND, of which the people contributed 55 million VND. During the day, the red flag with yellow star flies brightly; at night, the lights shine all over the country road, contributing to ensuring security and order, creating a bright, green, and beautiful appearance for the countryside.

Cadres who are close, transparent, and set an example; who know how to arouse pride and link practical benefits to people's lives, that is the skill in mobilization work. Thanks to that, from bridges, roofs to country roads, everything becomes a living proof of the power of consensus.

Replicating effective models

In the period of 2021 - 2025, the whole province will build and upgrade 719 works, with more than 5,500km of rural roads asphalted and concreted; the total construction cost is more than 6,000 billion VND. In addition, 419 bridges for people will be built according to the model of State and People working together, with a total cost of 440 billion VND, of which the People and enterprises contribute nearly 30%. These results have contributed to completing infrastructure and promoting new rural construction.

The emulation movement "Skilled Mass Mobilization" has spread widely. The whole province currently has 8,889 grassroots models, 3,682 commune-level models and 2,222 provincial-level models. Many typical models in economic development, maintaining security and order, protecting the environment, and dialogue with the people have been effectively implemented. In 2024, the writing contest on the "Skilled Mass Mobilization" model awarded 18 prizes. Each model shows that when cadres are skillful in mobilizing and know how to put the interests of the people first, all movements are successful.

Standing Committee member, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Tong Phuoc Truong affirmed: "In recent times, mass mobilization work in the whole province has clearly promoted its effectiveness, contributing to strengthening the people's trust in the Party and the political system. In the coming time, the province will continue to replicate effective models, innovate propaganda methods, apply digital transformation in grasping public opinion and interacting with people; at the same time, link the emulation movement "Skilled mass mobilization" with building advanced and exemplary new rural areas".

An Giang currently has 69/85 communes meeting new rural standards, 9 communes meeting advanced standards and 1 commune meeting model standards. This number proves that skillful mobilization continues to be the link connecting the Party's will with the people's hearts, opening the journey to build advanced, model new rural areas in the next phase.
