TPO - Hanoi Department of Transport has just held a meeting with the investor, the Police and Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company on traffic organization for the construction of the Kim Dong - Giai Phong tunnel project. To reduce traffic congestion here, the investor and the meeting participants proposed to stop passenger buses from turning around on Kim Dong Street.

The Ring Road 2.5 underpass project through Giai Phong - Kim Dong intersection is fencing off the road for construction expansion.

Due to the narrowing of the road to serve the project, buses from Giap Bat station have to turn around to Kim Dong street and then turn around to return to Giai Phong street to Phap Van.

This situation makes Giai Phong street, passing Giap Bat bus station and Kim Dong street, always congested.

In addition to the cause of crowded vehicles, the above situation is also mainly caused by many passenger cars that, after leaving Giap Bat station, still open their doors, stop, and pick up passengers on the road....

Every time a bus turns around, Kim Dong street is jammed for a long time.

Faced with the above situation, to allow passenger vehicles to quickly exit from Giap Bat bus station and reduce traffic density on Giai Phong street and the intersection with Kim Dong, the investor of the Giai Phong - Kim Dong underpass project and representatives of the units attending the meeting proposed to remove the regulation allowing passenger vehicles to turn around on Kim Dong street.

Instead, the Hanoi Department of Transport is requested to direct the cutting of the median strip and opening of the fence on the median strip in the middle of Giai Phong Street in front of Giap Bat bus station gate. Then, traffic is organized for passenger cars after leaving the bus station to go straight to the opposite lane of Giai Phong Street, turn left to go to Phap Van.

This proposal has now been agreed by the Hanoi Department of Transport; after that, the construction units have been allowed to cut about 20 meters of concrete curb (red arrow) and iron fence in the median strip of Giai Phong Street, ready for passenger buses to pass.

However, the Hanoi Department of Transport said that allowing vehicles from the station gate to go straight to the opposite Giai Phong lane to turn around to Phap Van will only be implemented in phase 2 of the Ring Road 2 tunnel project (when the fence is built on a large scale), currently this location (red arrow) is still temporarily fenced.
