Why is the Tra Khuc 2 Hydropower Project behind schedule?

Tra Khuc 2 Hydropower Project in Quang Ngai province is behind schedule compared to the first investment policy decision.

Recently, Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee Tran Phuoc Hien chaired a meeting of the Provincial People's Committee to handle problems with the Tra Khuc 2 Hydropower Project.

Accordingly, up to now, the Tra Khuc 2 Hydropower Project has carried out procedures to relocate the Son Giang Hydrological Station, appraised the design to be implemented after the basic design, agreed on connection, appraised land use needs (about 21.5 hectares)... However, up to now, the project is behind schedule compared to the first Investment Policy Decision.

From there, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Phuoc Hien requested the investor to urgently prepare a dossier requesting adjustment of the investment policy and send it to the Department of Planning and Investment (through the Provincial Administrative Procedure Control Center) for appraisal and consultation with the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and decision on adjustment; the time for completion and consultation with the Provincial People's Committee shall not exceed 15 working days from the date of receiving the complete dossier as prescribed.

Mr. Hien requested the Department of Industry and Trade to preside over the organization of work with the investors of Tra Khuc 1 and Tra Khuc 2 Hydropower Projects to unify the plan for implementing the connection line; ensure the role and effectiveness of state management in the energy sector; Son Ha District People's Committee directs relevant departments, offices, units and localities to proactively support and promptly resolve procedures within their authority so that investors can organize the implementation of the project in the area smoothly, put it into operation soon, and promote the economic efficiency of the project.

After the Provincial People's Committee decided to extend the project implementation progress, the Provincial People's Committee requested the investor to direct the affiliated specialized departments and divisions to urgently coordinate with the People's Committee of Son Ha district and related agencies and units to complete the dossier and send it to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to advise the Provincial People's Committee to consider and decide on land lease according to regulations; at the same time, urgently organize the implementation of compensation, site clearance and complete land procedures of the project in 2024.

Mr. Hien also requested the investor to seriously, fully and promptly implement the contents that the investor has committed to the local government and the people in the project area; proactively coordinate with the local government to do a good job of social security in the locality; pay attention to supporting the locality to improve traffic infrastructure and power supply in the project area to facilitate people's travel and daily life.

Last year, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province agreed to add Son Nham commune (Son Ha district) to implement the Tra Khuc 2 Hydropower Project.
