Vietnam - Algeria strengthen comprehensive cooperation on law and justice

(Chinhphu.vn) - On September 9, Minister of Justice Nguyen Hai Ninh received Mr. Mohamed Regaz, Secretary General of the Algerian Ministry of Justice, contributing to strengthening and further tightening the good cooperative relationship between the two countries.

At the reception, Minister Nguyen Hai Ninh informed Secretary General Mohamed Regaz that at this time, the entire Party, army and people of Vietnam are living and working in the historic and meaningful September days of the country celebrating the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

On this occasion, the Minister also thanked Algeria for sending a delegation of the Algerian National Liberation Front (FLN) to attend the two biggest events in Vietnam in 2025: the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification on April 30 in Ho Chi Minh City and the 80th Anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on September 2 in Hanoi .

Minister Nguyen Hai Ninh also assessed the effectiveness of cooperation between the two countries in the field of law and justice since the two Ministries of Justice signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in 2010 on the occasion of former Minister Ha Hung Cuong accompanying the President to visit and work in Algeria. Within the framework of this Memorandum of Understanding, the two Ministries signed cooperation programs and exchanged 05 delegations at the Ministry level.

The Minister also informed that Vietnam is currently making breakthrough steps in building and perfecting legal institutions, developing science and technology, innovation and national digital transformation as well as promoting the development of the private economic sector; building a streamlined, effective and efficient political system.

Thereby, Minister Nguyen Hai Ninh expressed his hope that the Ministry of Justice of Vietnam and the Ministry of Justice of Algeria will continue to implement the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2010 between the two Ministries in a practical and effective manner. At the same time, they will soon discuss, agree and sign the Cooperation Program for the period 2026-2027, contributing to deepening the legal and judicial cooperation relationship between the two countries.

Thanking Minister Nguyen Hai Ninh and the Vietnamese Ministry of Justice for their warm welcome to the Algerian Ministry of Justice delegation, Mr. Mohamed Regaz, Secretary General of the Algerian Ministry of Justice, expressed his hope that the two sides would continue to promote the achievements gained in the past time, determined to write new pages in the history of cooperation between the two Ministries of Justice in particular, and Vietnam-Algeria legal and judicial cooperation in general, contributing to consolidating and further tightening the traditional, strong and fraternal friendship between the two peoples.

*On the same day, the Ministry of Justice held a meeting between Deputy Minister of Justice of Vietnam Nguyen Thanh Tinh and Secretary General of the Algerian Ministry of Justice Mohamed Regaz.

Within the framework of the talks, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Tinh informed Secretary General Mohamed Regaz about the functions, tasks and roles as well as the challenges of the Ministry of Justice in the new situation.

Regarding the cooperation orientation between the two Ministries of Justice in the coming time, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Tinh hopes that the two sides will exchange legislative experience, the process of drafting, appraising, and promulgating legal documents, ensuring transparency, feasibility, and conformity with international standards; exchange experience in the organization and operation of the court system, the procuracy, and judicial support agencies; in the management of lawyers, notaries, auctioneers, and bailiffs; in the mechanism to ensure human rights and justice in litigation...

Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Tinh hopes that the two sides will jointly identify priority areas of cooperation in the coming period, including: Completing the legal framework for cooperation, promoting digital transformation in the judicial sector, enhancing cooperation in human resource training, coordinating in the implementation of international treaties, and providing legal support in bilateral trade and investment.

Also at the meeting, Secretary General Mohamed Regaz affirmed his readiness to cooperate and share experiences in the areas mentioned by Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Tinh, contributing to strengthening and further tightening the good cooperative relationship between the two Ministries of Justice in particular and cooperation in the field of law and justice between the two countries in general.
