Vietnam is simultaneously developing the semiconductor industry and artificial intelligence, aiming to build a comprehensive digital technology ecosystem and enhance national competitiveness in the new era.

In this context, on September 18 in Seoul, the Department of Information Technology Industry ( Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam) in collaboration with the Korea Information Technology Promotion Agency (NIPA) organized the International Conference "Artificial Intelligence and Semiconductors - Cooperation and Investment Opportunities between Vietnam and Korea".

This is the first time an international conference on these two strategic fields has been held in Korea, opening a channel for business connection, technology transfer and development of high-quality human resources between the two countries.

The semiconductor industry is considered the foundation of high-tech industries, while artificial intelligence is a spearhead with fast development speed, strongly impacting the socio-economy.

With a stable political environment, many preferential policies and increasingly enhanced international reputation, Vietnam is becoming a destination for large technology corporations such as Samsung, Amkor, Hana Micron, Intel, Synopsys, Renesas, USI...

The interest of these enterprises not only contributes to the formation of a semiconductor supply chain in Vietnam but also promotes the connection between chip production and AI applications, creating high added value for the economy.

This conference brings together leading organizations and businesses such as NIPA, Amkor Technology, FPT Semiconductor, CMC...

The parties discussed global semiconductor development trends, operational experience in Vietnam as well as new investment cooperation opportunities.

Notably, at the event, Mr. Nguyen Khac Lich, Director of the Department of Information Technology Industry and Mr. Wang Sung Ho, Vice President of the Representative Association of the Korean Fabless Industry Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of semiconductor industry.

Under the agreement, the two sides will promote cooperation in policy consultation, human resource training, research and development (R&D), technology transfer and building a semiconductor ecosystem.

The signing is an important step forward in the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Korea. At the same time, it is the beginning of many joint projects and initiatives between businesses of the two countries in the future, bringing practical benefits to both sides and to the overall development of the semiconductor industry.

More than 100,000 Vietnamese people have been trained in cloud and AI since 2017. To support Vietnamese human resources to be ready for the artificial intelligence economy, an American technology giant has trained more than 100,000 people in cloud and AI.
