According to CNBC , shares of the world's leading chipmaker increased nearly 3% in trading on September 30, marking an impressive step forward after a series of agreements related to artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.

Nvidia shares have risen about 39% year to date, with investors increasingly drawn to the company’s central position in the AI boom, especially as it continues to forge partnerships with tech giants.
Last week, OpenAI confirmed that Nvidia would buy a stake in the company worth up to $100 billion. In parallel, the two sides will cooperate to build data centers worth hundreds of billions of dollars, most of which will be provided by Nvidia.

Now, the OpenAI and Nvidia partnership is closer than ever, as the two aim to build the next generation of AI supercomputing infrastructure.
OpenAI also announced plans to open five new mega-data centers with Oracle, expected to be equipped with hundreds of thousands of Nvidia GPUs. The entire “Stargate” project is estimated to cost up to $500 billion.
Nvidia products now account for up to 70% of the cost of building a new AI data center, CEO Jensen Huang said.
This figure shows Nvidia's near-absolute influence in core infrastructure for artificial intelligence.
Wall Street analysts were quick to raise their outlook on Nvidia following the OpenAI news, with Citi raising its price target to $210 from $200, citing stronger-than-expected spending on AI infrastructure.
Citi analyst Atif Malik said OpenAI may have turned to Nvidia for support because its products have outstanding appeal, while the demand for computing power per user is skyrocketing.
It's not just OpenAI; many other tech companies are also accelerating their investments in AI infrastructure. Meta, Google, and many others have announced plans to scale up data and computing at record levels.
CoreWeave – a cloud computing provider in which Nvidia is a major shareholder – said on Tuesday it has signed a $14.2 billion deal to provide AI infrastructure to Meta.
This is the latest move that shows Nvidia is indirectly benefiting from its partner network, while strengthening its “irreplaceable” position in the global AI ecosystem.
