ANTD.VN - VietABank was fined and had to pay a total of nearly 4.2 billion VND in back taxes due to false tax declarations and was subject to the aggravating circumstance of multiple violations.

The General Department of Taxation (now the Department of Taxation after restructuring) has issued a decision on administrative sanctions for tax violations through inspection of tax law compliance of VietABank (VietABank - stock code: VAB).

VietABank was fined and had to pay back taxes

According to the Decision on Penalty, VietABank committed administrative violations related to tax, including false declarations that led to and did not lead to a shortage of tax payable.

The aggravating circumstance for this bank is that it committed administrative violations (falsely declaring the amount of value added tax payable) many times.

For the above violation, VietABank was fined more than 614 million VND, equivalent to 20% of the amount of tax collected for the act of false declaration leading to the amount of tax payable. In addition, the General Department of Taxation fined an additional 35.1 million VND for the act of false declaration but not leading to a lack of tax payable.

The remedial measure is that VietABank is forced to pay the full amount of tax arrears to the State budget of more than VND 3.07 billion, including nearly VND 396 million in value added tax in 2023, nearly VND 2.68 billion in corporate income tax in 2022 and 2023.

In addition, the Bank must also pay nearly VND476 million in late tax payments. The General Department of Taxation stated that the above late payment amount was calculated up to February 11.

VietABank is responsible for calculating and paying the amount of late tax payment from February 11, 2025 until the actual payment of the arrears and fines to the State budget according to regulations.

Thus, the total amount that VietABank must add to the State budget through this inspection is nearly 4.2 billion VND.
