Network Slicing: Turn a shared network into a “tailor-made” network
Previously, all users shared the same network, the quality depended on the number of users accessing at the same time. This explains why the network is often unstable and laggy during peak hours, especially when watching 4K movies or playing online games.
So is there any technical solution for customers to choose higher quality services and transmission lines, and moreover, according to their individual needs? To solve this problem, VNPT will apply Network Slicing technology on its network.
With the application of Network Slicing technology on the 5G SA (5G standalone) platform, VNPT's physical network infrastructure will be divided into many virtual "slices". Each "slice" is designed separately in terms of criteria such as bandwidth, latency and reliability. This means that each customer service will have a separate, optimized transmission line, "tailored" according to customer needs if required.

Network Slicing technology opens up many practical applications. For example, a smart factory can have its own private 5G network according to its needs and requirements to control the production line. Or a seaport can operate thousands of surveillance cameras at the same time with its own designed transmission line.
For public services, with the application of Network Slicing technology, VNPT's digital infrastructure will be built into priority transmission lines according to the specific needs of each user such as fire, police, and medical in emergency and rescue situations.
For individual users, these virtual “slices” will help increase accuracy and reduce latency for customer activities that require high speed and accuracy such as remote drone control or live TV broadcasting...
Network API: Accelerating Digital Services
VNPT has also successfully tested the Network API. With Network API, customers can interact directly with VNPT's network to request real-time connection quality settings for the applications and service platforms that customers are using.
For example, if you are a VIP customer of MyTV service and want to watch a top football match or a movie, through the MyTV application, you can completely "command" the VNPT network to prioritize the connection line, bandwidth and increase data stability so that you can watch the football match or movie with the desired speed and quality, smoothly, without lag.
In other words, instead of just providing bandwidth, when using Network API, VNPT's infrastructure can ensure to meet the individual needs of each customer in terms of speed and connection bandwidth in the form of flexible service packages.

According to Ms. Rita Mokbel, General Director of Ericsson Vietnam, as 5G opens up new opportunities to diversify service models and optimize revenue, the Vietnamese telecommunications industry is entering a period of strong transformation. Through the application of Network Slicing and Network APIs technology, network operators such as VNPT can develop flexible 5G service packages, suitable for each customer group, each industry and specific needs.
“This not only allows VNPT to provide premium services and price based on customer usage, but also opens up new business models, adding value from network infrastructure. VNPT’s pioneering pursuit of this strategy demonstrates its long-term vision and leading position in the digital era. We are proud to accompany VNPT as a strategic partner, together promoting the development of digital connectivity in Vietnam,” said Ms. Rita Mokbel.
Mr. Nguyen Nam Long, Deputy General Director of VNPT Group, said that the successful testing and early deployment of the two technologies Network Slicing and Network API will help VNPT have an open, smart and flexible infrastructure to support businesses, developers, startups and organizations in developing outstanding digital products and services.
“This is a step that clearly demonstrates VNPT's commitment to building a modern national digital infrastructure in the journey of accompanying the Government as well as global partners in promoting the rapid, sustainable and in-depth development of Vietnam's digital ecosystem,” affirmed Mr. Nguyen Nam Long.
