Con Co evacuated nearly 200 people to storm shelters

Con Co Island evacuated nearly 200 people into storm shelters, with food prepared for 15 days.

At nearly 5:00 p.m., at Con Co Island ( Quang Tri ), the wind and waves had increased, with gusts of level 12-13 and waves 2-3 meters high.

Responding to storm Bualoi, Con Co special zone has completed the evacuation of all soldiers and civilians to storm shelter No. 10.

According to the Joint Battalion, Defense Command of Area 3 - Vinh Linh (Quang Tri Province Military Command), nearly 200 people were urgently brought into the safe bunker by the joint forces with Con Co Border Post. The government and armed forces ensured food, food, and arranged accommodation and living for the people and soldiers.

Captain Nguyen Trung Anh, Deputy Battalion Commander of the Mixed Battalion, said that Con Co is currently experiencing heavy rain, strong winds of level 8, and waves nearly 5 meters high. After the evacuation, the unit will continue to closely monitor the storm, strengthen its communication system, and be ready to mobilize forces and vehicles when situations arise.

Con Co Border Guard Station has brought 9 fishing boats of fishermen to high places, anchored them safely; secured more than 20 houses, service establishments and special zone headquarters; and stocked up on food, medicine and necessities enough for 15 days.

Big waves flooded the road in Cua Lo

Due to large waves combined with high tides, seawater flooded some sections of Binh Minh Street. Some low-chassis cars had to drive in the opposite direction to avoid the deep flooded sections.

Some trees were knocked down by the storm even though Typhoon Bualoi had not yet made landfall.

Shops and hotels were also closed.

Mr. Ngo Duc Kien - Secretary of the Party Committee of Cua Lo Ward, Nghe An - said that up to now, 260 fishing boats with more than 1,265 workers have been called to return to shelters and anchor safely. Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Gianh Ward, a coastal ward of Quang Tri Province, said that he was ready to welcome the storm with the highest level of vigilance.

This coastal ward has called on all fishermen and offshore vessels to anchor safely. Schools, committee headquarters, and solid houses have been arranged for people to take shelter. The ward has organized a mobile loudspeaker vehicle to go to each hamlet to inform the people.

"The ward and commune secretaries and chairmen are at the headquarters to be on duty during the storm. We are also working with food and essential goods agents to be ready to distribute when there is a situation" - Mr. Tinh informed.

Reporters at Ba Don at 4:46 p.m. noted that heavy rain was falling and the wind was starting to pick up. Highway 1A had little traffic. Loudspeakers were constantly broadcasting warnings and updates on the storm situation.

The resting place of General Vo Nguyen Giap has strong winds, many places have lost power.

In the Phu Trach commune area (northern Quang Tri province), on the evening of September 28, there were very strong gusts of wind and heavy rain due to storm Bualoi. Strong winds caused trees to tilt, waves as high as a meter hit the shore, and the sea was very rough.

This is the area near Vung Chua - Yen Island, the resting place of General Vo Nguyen Giap.

Due to the storm, many places in Phu Trach commune have had power outages. Highway 1 through this commune is deserted due to the storm.
