Vietnam's fixed broadband internet speed is in the world's top 10

DNVN - Vietnam has made great strides in fixed broadband internet speed, entering the group of countries with the fastest internet speed in the world, according to Ookla, a leading US company in the field of measuring and evaluating network connections.

Vietnam's fixed broadband internet speed is in the top 10 in the world .

Based on Ookla data, in August, Vietnam ranked 10th globally in terms of fixed broadband speed, with an average download speed of 261.8 Mbps.

In terms of mobile internet, Vietnam is currently ranked 16th worldwide, with an average download speed of 152.17 Mbps.

Currently, Vietnam owns six main submarine cable lines, including AAG, IA, AAE-1, APG, ADC and SJC2, with a total designed capacity of up to 80 Tbps. Last August, VNPT Telecommunications Group officially launched the VSTN international optical cable line, this is the first submarine cable line that Vietnam invested entirely with domestic capital.

According to the Voice of Vietnam , the number of fixed broadband subscribers in the first half of this year reached 24.4 per 100 people, up 3.9% over the same period last year. Of which, 85.3% of households used fiber optic cable, exceeding the global average of 60%.

Ookla, known globally for its Speedtest platform, is a leader in measuring, analyzing, and evaluating internet connectivity. Vietnam’s rise in Ookla’s rankings demonstrates significant improvements in digital infrastructure development.
