For about a year now, my wife has been behaving differently. She finds excuses to work overtime, comes home late sometimes, or spends the weekend “relaxing alone.” When I ask her, she tells me that I am too controlling and don’t give her space.

I am not a nosy person, but I was worried and checked my wife's phone. I found hidden messages. My wife admitted that she had an affair with a rich partner. She said that I was not romantic enough, did not make her feel loved and that she had found true happiness with someone else.

Part of me wants to believe that she is truly sorry, that there is still a chance for this family to heal. But the other part reminds me of the damage she has caused.

When my family learned that she wanted to get back together, they strongly objected. My mother frankly said: "Don't be foolish. How can you forgive a woman like that and then leave her?". When my close friends heard the news, they laughed at me, calling me a weak person with no self-respect.
