Each Volvo XC90 Black Edition features unique exterior details, including iron badging, grille, rear badge and 21-inch wheels finished in premium gloss black - Onyx Black. Customers can choose from a black interior finish, an anthracite headliner and checkered aluminum trim, along with two seat material options. Other features such as the Harman Kardon sound system, air quality filter, and Orrefors crystal gearshift knob are also retained in the Black Edition.
The black sports seats can be upholstered in nappa leather or, for animal lovers, synthetic leather. Based on the two highest trim levels Plus and Ultra, both the driver and passenger seats are equipped with 4-way power lumbar support, adjustable footrests, and memory function. While previous Black Edition models were only available in Onyx Black, Volvo now adds three additional color options: Crystal White, Denim Blue, and Vapor Grey. All three new tones are striking and Scandinavian in style, with a confident look. The XC90 Black Edition's power remains unchanged, with the B5 mild hybrid petrol engine making 250 horsepower and the T8 plug-in hybrid making 455 horsepower.
Volvo's addition to the XC90 means there are now five Volvo models available in Black Edition trim, with the large hybrid SUV joining Black Edition variants of the XC60, EX40, fully electric EC40 and mild-hybrid XC40. A Black Edition EX30 is in development, with details to be announced soon. “In response to clear customer demand, Volvo is expanding the Black Edition range to include the XC90,” said Erik Severinson, Chief Commercial Officer, Volvo Cars. “Now Volvo customers can own a timeless and confident Black Edition in every size.” The new Volvo XC90 has been significantly upgraded with a range of technology and design updates for 2024. This makes the XC90 the best version yet of Volvo Cars' award-winning flagship hybrid SUV. The XC90 is one of the safest cars on the road, with an advanced safety framework and a range of active safety technologies built in.
The XC90 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) leads Volvo Cars' hybrid portfolio. Volvo's PHEV models are a bridge to an all-electric future, providing a backup solution for customers who cannot yet make the switch to a fully electric vehicle. The XC90 Black Edition is available in Plus, Plus Pro and Ultra trim levels in the UK, priced from £86,690 (around $101,641) and the XC90 PHEV with an electric range of up to 43 miles (71 km) is priced from £93,790 (around $109,966).
