The 2025 Volvo XC60 launched in the Malaysian market will be sold in two versions including B5 AWD Core and T8 AWD Ultimate PHEV. The car will be assembled at Volvo's factory in Shah Alam, Malaysia and is expected to be a source of supply for many markets in the region, including Vietnam. In terms of design, the new XC60 has many similarities with its "big brother" XC90 launched last year. The most noticeable change is in the new radiator grille: instead of simple vertical bars, Volvo uses a denser cross-woven pattern, creating visual depth and increasing brand recognition.
In addition, the car still retains Volvo's signature minimalist design style, with "Thor's Hammer" LED headlights, slightly modified front and rear bumpers, and multi-spoke alloy wheels measuring 19 - 21 inches depending on the version. Overall, the new XC60 looks more modern but still retains its inherent elegance. The interior space has also been significantly improved. The car has an 11.2-inch central touch screen instead of the previous 9-inch type, running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon Cockpit Platform - one of the most powerful car processors today. The new infotainment system is Google Built-in, allowing users to directly access applications such as Google Maps, Assistant or Play Store without a smartphone. The user interface is redesigned, smoother and supports online software updates (OTA). In addition, the car still maintains Volvo's characteristic minimalist philosophy with high-quality interior materials, Nappa leather seats, high-end Bowers & Wilkins sound system and a series of advanced safety technologies such as: Pilot Assist (semi-automatic driving assistance), City Safety (automatic emergency braking), Blind Spot Information System (blind spot warning)...
Powering both versions of the new XC60 is a 2.0L I4 turbocharged gasoline engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The B5 AWD Core version is a mild hybrid, producing 249 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. The electric assist system includes a 48V battery pack and an ISG (Integrated Starter Generator) motor that adds 14 horsepower and 40 Nm, helping the vehicle accelerate more smoothly and save fuel. The T8 AWD Ultimate version is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) with a total output of up to 462 horsepower and 709 Nm. The 2.0L gasoline engine has a capacity of 317 horsepower, combined with a 145 horsepower electric motor, and a 19 kWh battery, allowing the car to travel about 89 km entirely on electricity.
Currently, the Volvo XC60 being officially distributed in Vietnam is still the pre-upgrade version. However, according to sources from dealers, the new mid-life upgrade version will likely be introduced in Vietnam soon, with the supply imported completely from Malaysia. The price of the Volvo XC60 2025 for the B5 AWD Core version is 328,888 ringgit, (equivalent to more than 2 billion VND). The T8 AWD Ultimate version is 362,888 ringgit, about (about 2.26 billion VND). The fact that the Volvo XC60 2025 luxury electric SUV will be imported from the ASEAN region instead of Europe could help make the selling price more competitive, while also shortening the delivery time for Vietnamese customers.
