The 62nd ABU General Assembly took place from September 11 to 15 with a series of rich activities. The theme of this year's General Assembly focused on the important responsibility of the media in protecting cultural and national heritage.
In an era of rapid digital change, media organizations play a dual role as guardians and storytellers, ensuring traditions, languages and cultural identities are preserved while remaining accessible to modern audiences.
ABU Vice President Inoue Tatsuhiko said: "The trend of globalization promotes assimilation, it is not enough if we simply preserve traditions, but more importantly, we must find ways to connect traditions with current life and pass them on to the next generation. By taking advantage of new technology and the contributions of broadcast stations, we can enhance the trust of listeners and fulfill a special mission to society.
The Asia Pacific region is home to a unique diversity of cultures and traditions. Diversity is the source of vitality; the mission and operating principles of ABU are to unite the diverse strengths of its member stations under one roof and create “unity in diversity”.

Leaders from member organisations will share their experiences in adapting to technological change, exploring innovative approaches to financing and ensuring long-term relevance while maintaining public trust.
The open discussion brought together leaders, experts and media practitioners from the region to exchange views on how broadcast content can contribute to cultural preservation. The discussion proposed strategies, analyzed practical challenges and opportunities, from raising public awareness to creating content that reflects diverse cultural voices.
Tonight (September 14 - local time) will take place the ABU Awards Ceremony - the annual award of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Association. VOV has 2 works in the final round of the ABU Awards 2025.
Over the years, the ABU General Assembly has been an important international forum connecting radio, television and media organizations in the region and around the world, contributing to promoting cooperation, exchange and development of radio, television and media for a peaceful, progressive and developed world. Currently, ABU has 240 members, which are radio and television agencies from 65 countries and regions around the world. As a long-standing member of ABU, Voice of Vietnam always participates in ABU activities in a positive and responsible manner. |
