The 10th grade exam scandal in Thai Binh: Nearly 2,800 exam papers had incorrect scores

Today (August 19), the inspectorate of Thai Binh province concluded the case of irregular scores in the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year in this province after 20 working days.

Accordingly, the reason given was an error in the process of re-scoring the essay test, causing 2,769 tests to have incorrect scores. Specifically, more than 1,400 tests had lower scores and nearly 1,370 tests had higher scores than previously announced. The number of candidates with incorrect total admission scores was 1,589.

The inspection conclusion pointed out that Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh province Nguyen Viet Hien and the secretariat did not follow the correct procedures in the process of returning essay test papers.

In addition to announcing incorrect scores for nearly 1,600 candidates, the first round of admission scores for 4 specialized classes and 11 admission councils of mass high schools were also incorrect.

On the morning of August 20, the People's Committee of Thai Binh province will hold a press conference to provide information on the results of the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year.

As VietNamNet reported, when the results of the 10th grade entrance exam in Thai Binh province were announced, many parents, teachers, and candidates were surprised because the scores did not accurately reflect the test results.

When the results of the re-examination of the exam were announced, local public opinion continued to be stirred up by the fact that the scores of the subjects were very different from the first scores.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Binh province has requested the Provincial Inspectorate to conduct a surprise inspection of the implementation of policies, laws, assigned tasks and powers of the Department of Education and Training, the Director of the Department of Education and Training and related organizations and individuals in the organization of the recent 10th grade exam.

The People's Committee of Thai Binh province has issued a decision to temporarily suspend the Director of the Department of Education and Training, Nguyen Viet Hien, from July 31 to serve the inspection of the organization of the 10th grade entrance exam. The suspension period is 15 days.
