Cham Phu Lac region "changes its clothes"

Returning to Phu Lac commune, Tuy Phong district in early September, we can see the remarkable changes in this midland mountainous commune with purely ethnic minority people.

If in the past, the people of Cham Phu Lac only relied on rice with 3 crops/year, now they have boldly converted to suitable crops. Looking at the lush green vineyards mixed with clusters of fruit stretching out, along with the apple orchards covered with curtains in the harvest season, we can see that the economy of farmers here has changed. Not only that, the diversification of crops including chili, onion, peanut also helps farmers improve their income significantly. To help farmers boldly convert, we must mention the irrigation works, the internal canals that have been invested in by the State to build, repair, and solidify. With water coming in, all the previous difficulties and hardships of the weather suddenly become advantages of the crops. Grapes and apples are now advantageous crops and have become local specialties. Currently, the whole commune has nearly 1 hectare of Japanese pink grapes, 22 hectares of green grapes and 18 hectares of apples grown on trellises covered with nets. The hot and windy weather is a disadvantage for farming but a plus for the fruits here to be more delicious, crispy and sweet.

Mr. Mai Duc Nghia - Vice Chairman of Phu Lac Commune People's Committee said: "Thanks to effective crop conversion, the average income per capita in Phu Lac commune by the end of 2022 reached 44.3 million VND/person/year, the multidimensional poverty rate reached 4.9%. In particular, when mentioning Phu Lac, people in the area immediately mentioned the product "Song Long Song Rice" of My Pho food milling facility, which was classified as 3 stars in the 2020 OCOP program for each commune".

Going deep into the small alleys, we can see that Phu Lac has a clean "new coat" when 100% of the inter-commune and inter-village roads have been asphalted or concreted, clean and airy, ensuring convenient travel for people and easier trading of agricultural products with regions, communes and towns inside and outside the district. In addition, households using electricity and water for daily life have covered the whole commune. Facilities and teaching and learning equipment of schools at all levels in the area have been invested in. Cultural houses and sports areas have been invested in, repaired and upgraded, thereby serving people for entertainment, sports activities as well as cultural activities serving the community. It can be seen that the material and spiritual life of the people here has changed every day.

When we arrived, the flag was flying brightly red on the main road to the Commune People's Committee, as if announcing good news to those who happened to pass by, Phu Lac had just received a certificate of recognition as a commune meeting the New Rural Standards (NTM). When talking to the people in the area, they were all excited to "show off" to us about that good news as a matter of pride and joy.

Breakthrough development

According to the district People's Committee leader, Phu Lac is a locality rich in cultural traditions and patriotic traditions. Throughout its history of formation and development, the land and people here have always created bright spots and breakthrough developments in revolutionary movements. Especially in the renovation period, Phu Lac has had positive changes following the general development trend of the whole country. Infrastructure has received due investment; culture, health, education as well as social security are ensured; political security, social order and safety are consolidated and enhanced, and the material and spiritual life of the people is increasingly improved. The political system has a fairly close relationship, creating solidarity and unity. From that solid foundation, Phu Lac has full conditions and opportunities to develop and complete the targets and criteria for building new rural areas according to plan.

Lac Tri Primary School meets national standards

By the end of 2022, Phu Lac commune basically achieved 19/19 criteria and was recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a new-style rural commune with socio-economic indicators achieved and exceeded such as: The rate of people participating in health insurance reached 90.09%; the rate of cultural households increased year after year; 3/3 villages achieved cultural villages for many consecutive years; the Party Committee achieved clean and strong status; 100% of rural and inter-village traffic systems were solidified; there were no more temporary or dilapidated houses; the rate of junior high school graduates continuing to study high school, supplementary education, and vocational training reached 91.25%. Enrollment of 5-year-old children in kindergarten reached 100%; environmental protection and sanitation work has had positive changes, food hygiene and safety has been implemented; there are many good models of ensuring security and order; the appearance of the new countryside is becoming more and more clear...
