Residential areas along Cau and Ca Lo rivers are submerged in water.

More than 3,300 households were affected.

Lying along the Cau River, Trung Gia Commune is the most severely affected area when the Cau River floods. Currently, in An Lac Village (Trung Gia Commune), there are at least 364 households with nearly 1,500 people affected by flooding. Not far away, in Hoa Binh Village, this number is about 169 households (677 people).

In Ngo Dao village (Tan Hung commune), 617 households with 2,471 people are also affected by flooding. In addition, Hieu Chan and Cam Ha villages currently have 51 households (203 people) and Cam Ha 32 households (127 people) isolated by flooding.

A residential area along the Ca Lo River in Viet Long Commune (Soc Son District) was submerged in floodwaters.

It is noted that in the communes of Bac Phu, Viet Long, Kim Lu, Dong Xuan... there are also hundreds of households affected by flooding on the banks of Cau River and Ca Lo River. Many households have been assisted by local authorities to evacuate and move to safe shelters.

Head of the Economic Department of Soc Son district, Hoang Thi Ha, said that preliminary statistics as of noon on September 11 showed that the whole district had a total of about 3,311 households with 15,673 people affected by flooding due to rising water levels on the Cau and Ca Lo rivers.

“Currently, the district is directing local authorities to continue closely monitoring the developments of floods and water levels on Cau River and Ca Lo River to proactively evacuate people from dangerous areas…” - Ms. Hoang Thi Ha added.

Ready to evacuate people

Faced with the great impact of the flood, in recent days, organizations, unions, and communes that have been less affected have made great efforts to support people in the flood-affected areas. Secretary of the Phu Linh Commune Party Committee, Truong Ngoc Lan, said that the locality has just provided 50 cartons of milk, 40 cartons of purified water, 20 cartons of instant noodles, and many boxes of dry food, bread, and medicine to people in the flood-affected areas of Trung Gia and Viet Long communes.

Not only in Trung Gia and Viet Long communes, local authorities are currently still basically ensuring the conditions of necessities for people in flooded areas. At the same time, they continue to closely monitor the weather situation to have appropriate support plans for people to cope with the risk of flooding on Cau and Ca Lo rivers.

According to the assessment of the hydrometeorological agency, the water level on the Cau River and Ca Lo River will continue to rise. In particular, the Cau River alone may reach 9.13m at around 10pm on September 11. Historically, the flood on the Cau River was 9.2m high in 1971. There is a risk of continuing to flood residential areas outside the riverbank, threatening the safety of the dike and the lives and property of the state and people.

To ensure people's safety in the context of complicated floods on rivers, Vice Chairman of Soc Son District People's Committee Do Minh Tuan requested the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of communes to strictly implement the 24/24 duty regime; closely monitor the development of rain and floods; regularly grasp information, continuously update the situation and developments of the impact of river floods in the area.

Local authorities are ready to mobilize forces, means, materials, and logistics to respond to situations and incidents according to the level of natural disaster risk. At the same time, they decide to evacuate and move people to safe shelters depending on the actual situation on the ground, absolutely not allowing human casualties.

 

According to the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Hanoi City , the water level of Cau River and Ca Lo River at hydrological stations in Soc Son District has reached the level III warning and continues to rise. Hanoi City has issued a flood warning for localities along the river to proactively respond.
