Thach Quang commune was established on the basis of arranging 3 commune-level administrative units of the old Thach Thanh district, including Thach Lam, Thach Tuong and Thach Quang. After the merger, the commune had a population of 15,066 people with 2 main ethnic groups living together, including Kinh and Muong.

Over the past 5 years, the Party committees and authorities at all levels in the commune have paid attention to leading, directing and implementing the patriotic emulation movement and the emulation and reward work. Thereby, important results have been achieved, creating a great driving force contributing to the completion and over-fulfillment of economic , cultural, social, defense and security targets.

In the economic field, emulation movements focus on economic restructuring and crop and livestock restructuring. Thereby, the average annual growth rate of product value of the commune reaches 5.42%; total income in all fields in 2025 is estimated at 591.64 billion VND, an increase of 137.24 billion VND compared to 2020.

In the cultural and social fields, the movement of the entire people uniting to build a cultural life associated with building new rural areas, building exemplary collectives and individuals has been implemented synchronously and extensively. In 2025, the rate of cultural families in the commune is estimated to reach 86%; the rate of villages achieving the title of cultural village is estimated to reach 95%; 100% of agencies, units and schools are cultural agencies.

Emulation movements to implement the National Target Program on new rural construction, sustainable poverty reduction, and socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas have received attention, bringing about clear results in local socio-economic development.

Launching the patriotic emulation movement in the period of 2025-2030, Thach Quang commune determined to take full advantage of opportunities, effectively promote resources, proactively overcome difficulties and challenges, accelerate high and sustainable economic growth; at the same time, improve the quality of cultural and social activities serving people's lives; ensure national defense and security, maintain political stability, social order and safety; determined to build Thach Quang into a well-off commune of the province.
