The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center has dispatched the specialized ship SAR 631 to rescue a fisherman on a Da Nang fishing boat who suffered a work accident and a serious head injury while operating in the waters between the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa Special Zones.

At 4:31 p.m. on October 19, 2025, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (under the Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration, Ministry of Construction ) received an urgent distress report about a seriously injured fisherman needing emergency medical assistance from fishing vessel QNa 91892TS.
QNa 91892 TS ship has 01 crew member named Phan Van Tinh (born in 1975) was hit in the head by Puli, injured in the left temple, bleeding could not be stopped, currently unconscious. The ship is at position 13°36'N - 112°58'E (about 323 nautical miles southeast of Da Nang), the ship is moving towards the shore at a very low speed, about 4 - 5 nautical miles/hour.

Authorities approached the ship with fishermen in distress.
After receiving the information, the Center determined that the accident occurred in the sea area between Hoang Sa and Truong Sa Special Zones, in an area likely to be directly affected by storm No. 12. The fisherman was seriously injured due to a heavy object directly impacting his head, leading to coma, possibly with traumatic brain injury.
Realizing the seriousness of the patient's condition and the complicated weather conditions, the Center consulted and was directed by the National Civil Defense Steering Committee and the Vietnam Maritime and Waterways Administration to mobilize the specialized search and rescue ship SAR 631 to depart from Da Nang, on an emergency journey through the night in stormy conditions to approach the ship QNa 91892 TS to rescue the victim.

SAR 631 ship arrives in Quy Nhon
While the specialized ship was on its way to the rescue location, the Center used the Coastal Information Station to directly connect with the fishing boat with the fisherman in distress to provide remote first aid instructions, helping to prevent the patient's condition from worsening before the rescue ship arrived to assist.
After a night of urgent travel, racing against the effects of the storm, on the morning of November 20, 2025, the SAR 631 ship approached the fishing boat QNa 91892TS. The rescue team was sent to the fishing boat along with a team of doctors from the 115 Da Nang Emergency Center to provide first aid to the victim and transfer him to the SAR 631 ship to bring him back to shore. Studying the actual situation at the scene, the captain of the SAR 631 ship proposed to bring the victim to the nearest location with adequate first aid conditions, which is Quy Nhon city.
At 20:03 on October 20, 2025, SAR 631 ship brought the injured fisherman safely to Quy Nhon port, promptly handed him over to the local medical agency for further emergency treatment.
