At about 9:30 a.m. on December 24, patient Mai Van Tuat, residing in Cu Hue commune, Eakar district ( Dak Lak ), had surgery for cholecystitis at the Central Highlands General Hospital.
However, patient Tuat needed a transfusion of blood type B platelets, but his family did not have a compatible blood type, while blood resources at the hospital were scarce.
At this time, the Central Highlands General Hospital informed the Steering Committee of the "Red Volunteer Soldier" model of the Krong No District Police ( Dak Nong ) for help.
Immediately after that, the Steering Committee of Krong No District Police mobilized Major Nguyen Van Dung, Deputy Chief of Nam Nung Commune Police and Lieutenant Vi Duc Anh, an officer of Nam Nung Commune Police - people with blood type B - to temporarily stop work and travel nearly 70km to the Central Highlands General Hospital to donate blood.
Thanks to the timely blood donation of two police officers, the surgery was successful and patient Mai Van Tuat's health gradually stabilized.
After completing the blood donation for patient Tuat, Major Dung and Lieutenant Duc Anh visited and encouraged the patient and his family before returning to the unit to continue work.
