Two female scientists were awarded the Kovalevskaia Prize in 2023: Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Viet Ha, Director of the Institute of Oceanography , Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, and Professor, Dr. Hoang Thi Thai Hoa, Head of the Faculty of Agronomy, University of Agriculture and Forestry, Hue University, Ministry of Education and Training.
They all achieved outstanding results in scientific research and practical application.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai, former Vice President, Chairwoman of the Kovalevskaia Award Committee Nguyen Thi Doan, Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra, and Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women's Union Ha Thi Nga congratulated two female scientists who were awarded the Kovalevskaia Award in 2023.
In 2023, there were 9 applications for the Kovalevskaia Award, all of which were very impressive with research projects that had many meanings for life. According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Doan, former Vice President, President of the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, President of the Kovalevskaia Award Committee, the research projects of female scientists are not only the crystallization of intellectual work, but also of passion, dedication, and inspiration.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Doan also expressed that the 4.0 revolution has an objective impact on us, scientific progress is rapid, natural resources are increasingly depleted, and the population is aging. The most valuable resource is human resources, including female intellectuals. Therefore, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Doan suggested that the Government should pay attention and invest in scientific research for women to develop further.
The Kovalevskaia Prize, named after Russian mathematician Sophia Kovalevskaia, was first awarded in Vietnam in 1985. It is the first and very prestigious prize for female scientists with many achievements in the field of natural science research.
This is an annual award presented to female groups and individual female natural scientists in fields such as: Mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, agriculture, medicine, information technology... with outstanding achievements in research and application of science into real life, bringing many economic and social benefits...
