In his opening speech at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc An, Chairman of the Vietnam Education Trade Union, said: Over the past 80 years, education has always been considered a top national policy. From the first "Popular Education" classes launched by President Ho Chi Minh in 1945 to the comprehensive, diverse and gradually modernized education system today, Vietnam's revolutionary education has constantly innovated to meet the country's development requirements in each historical period.

At this time, the domestic and international context is having a huge impact on the education sector. These are impacts from changes in the scale and model of two-level local governments, impacts from the requirements of the digital revolution that change the global teaching model and methods, especially the urgent requirements set out in Resolution 71/NQ-TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development. These include the rearrangement of preschool and general education, the merger and reduction of the university education system, and many major changes from educational institutions to perfect the education sector. A volatile and unpredictable world also poses challenges and difficulties for the education sector, teachers, and schools.

Therefore, this conference is an opportunity for experts and scientists to systematically review the 80-year journey of revolutionary education, summarize achievements, draw lessons, identify existing problems and from there propose new development directions, suitable to the requirements of the times.

The three contents that the delegates focused on discussing were: Overview of the formation and development process of Vietnam's revolutionary education and the core values of revolutionary education; Analysis of outstanding achievements through historical periods, from 1945 to present, in many fields such as preschool, general, vocational, university, teacher training, etc., thereby affirming the great role of education in the cause of comprehensive development of Vietnamese people; The historical mission of Vietnam's education in the new era with proposals on policies and innovative and creative educational models to continue the values and noble mission of the country's education.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Gia Cau, Deputy Director of the Institute for Educational Development Cooperation Research, shared: Looking back at 80 years, Vietnam's new education system has come a long way with many strong steps forward. These achievements not only demonstrate the great efforts of the whole society, but also prove the key role of education in the country's development. Today's Vietnamese education is gradually approaching the regional and international level, moving towards a modern, humane and integrated education system.

However, experts also pointed out current challenges such as: lack of facilities and teaching staff; limited management and administration of schools; serious achievement problems in education, from management levels to teachers, students and parents; learning goals are not for the development of each student but for the pursuit of scores. Therefore, schools need to change teaching methods and educational methods so that each student has enough qualities, abilities, and is well prepared to become a high-quality citizen of the digital age; must boldly break away from the limitations and shortcomings that are holding back the efforts and breakthroughs of modern education.

Emphasizing the role of the teaching staff, many delegates said that teachers are the direct force implementing the policies and programs of innovation. Therefore, we must always take care to build this team with heart - vision - talent, regular training, reasonable treatment and a sustainable career development environment.

In addition, education needs to be a "launching pad" for creative ideas of the young generation, through promoting digital transformation and innovation in education, arousing critical thinking, creativity, cooperation, self-learning and autonomy - essential skills of global citizens.

Profound lessons from the stages of Vietnam's educational reform show that all innovations must originate from the requirements of socio-economic development, from the cultural characteristics and people of Vietnam, and at the same time, meet the requirements of the digital age, globalization and sustainable development. Educational reform cannot follow trends, nor can it be modeled after external models, but must have a long-term vision, create momentum for sustainable growth, and be the soft power of the country.
