According to Decision No. 4758/QD-UBND of the Hanoi People's Committee on recognizing the awards of the Hanoi Handicraft Product Design Competition 2024, the city will award prizes to 90 organizations and individuals whose products won prizes in the "Hanoi Handicraft Product Design Competition 2024".

The number of prizes and the prize levels for organizations and individuals with winning products are as follows: 6 first prizes; 18 second prizes; 24 third prizes; 42 consolation prizes. The total amount is 84 million VND; the prize fund is taken from the City's industrial promotion fund in 2024, assigned to the Department of Industry and Trade in Decision No. 6336/QD-UBND dated December 12, 2023 of the City People's Committee. Each winning individual, in addition to cash, will receive a certificate of achievement from the City People's Committee and the Contest logo.

The Hanoi Handicraft Product Design Competition 2024 is chaired by the Hanoi People's Committee and the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, the Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consulting in coordination with other organizations to encourage organizations and individuals to promote creative ideas in designing handicraft products; at the same time, gather the intelligence and contributions of a number of domestic and foreign handicraft experts, in order to create products with new, creative designs, high economic , technical and aesthetic values ​​suitable to customer tastes.

Besides, it is a premise for businesses and handicraft production establishments in the city to restructure their industries and products, promote the development of new product designs to serve domestic market demand and increase export capacity.

Through the Competition, 300 - 350 new handicraft product designs will be created to support Hanoi handicraft enterprises and production facilities to diversify product designs to meet market demands. Add to the product collection new designs of Hanoi handicraft industry in 2024.

The contest will be launched in March 2024 and will accept entries until June 30, 2024. From June 1, 2024 to June 30, 2024, the organizing committee will provide consultation, guidance, and design direction for the product groups participating in the contest. From July 1, 2024 to July 30, 2024, the organizing committee will receive entries. From August to September 2024, the organizing committee will score entries.

Competition products are divided into groups: Ceramic products; Lacquer products; Rattan, bamboo, woven bamboo, and woven bamboo products; Mother-of-pearl, wood, and horn inlay products; Embroidery and silk products; Copper, stone, and other handicraft products. The award ceremony of the Competition will take place in October 2024, during the 2024 International Handicraft Gift Fair.

Hanoi Capital - the cradle of more than 1,350 craft villages and villages with crafts, converging 47/52 crafts in the total number of traditional crafts of the country. Of which, there are 334 craft villages, traditional crafts and traditional crafts recognized by the City People's Committee in the area of ​​25 districts, towns.

The total annual revenue of 322 craft villages, traditional craft villages and villages with above-mentioned craft villages reached over 22,000 billion VND. Craft villages have had growth in both revenue, production value and export value over the years, of which, there are about 100 craft villages with revenue of 10-20 billion VND/year, nearly 70 craft villages with revenue of 20-50 billion VND/year and about 20 craft villages with revenue of over 50 billion VND/year, contributing significantly to the local budget.

The average income of workers in craft villages is much higher than that of purely agricultural workers, the average income is generally at 4-5.5 million VND/worker/month. Different craft villages have different income levels of workers such as: rattan and bamboo weaving village, the average income of workers is 11.2 million VND/person/month, fine art sculpture village, the average income of workers is 10 million VND/month.

In recent years, although the production and business activities of handicraft villages have been increasingly developed with many efforts, they are facing competition in the market. Especially the world market is increasingly fierce.

Along with many solutions such as further strengthening vocational training in the form of vocational training, vocational propagation, building mechanisms and policies to encourage artisans and skilled workers to participate in vocational training, vocational training, focusing on traditional and traditional occupations... through the Hanoi Handicraft Product Design Competition in 2024 will contribute to raising awareness for traditional craft villages to focus more on innovation, creativity, design... so that handicraft products can both preserve the cultural identity of the homeland and have improvements suitable to the modern integration trend, affirming the position of Hanoi handicraft products in the whole country and in the international market.

The organizers hope that honoring handicraft products will create a playground and encourage artisans and skilled workers to develop new ideas, creating works that promote the cultural and historical values ​​of craft villages, products that are creative, technical, artistic, highly applicable and meet the needs of the domestic market and international integration. Create an environment for authors to participate in exchanges, learn from experiences, connect to promote trade, expand consumer markets, and increase product value.
