AFC comments on Vietnam futsal team's consecutive big wins

(Dan Tri) - The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) believes that the Vietnamese futsal team has achieved a perfect record with all wins in the Asian futsal qualifying round.

In the final match of the Asian Futsal Championship qualifying round, the Vietnamese futsal team won 4-0 against Lebanon. Thus, coach Diego Giustozzi's team finished the qualifying round with three big wins against Lebanon (4-0), China (7-2), Hong Kong (9-1) and won a ticket to the Asian Futsal Championship.

Witnessing the Vietnamese futsal team showing their superior strength in Group E, AFC commented: “The 4-0 victory over Lebanon helped the Vietnamese futsal team officially qualify for the Asian futsal finals with a perfect record in the qualifying round and a full 9 points.

Lebanon had to win the match against the Vietnamese futsal team to qualify for the next round. However, they met a much stronger opponent.

The Vietnamese futsal team played a high-pressing game and completely dominated the match from the start. The Southeast Asian representative opened the score in the 9th minute thanks to Nguyen Da Hai with a shot from the edge of the penalty area. Just a few seconds later, Nguyen Thinh Phat immediately doubled the gap for the Vietnamese futsal team from a close-range shot.

Coach Diego Giustozzi's team continued to dominate and raised the score to 3-0 in the 11th minute thanks to Tu Minh Quang, who took advantage of Vu Ngoc Anh's cross.

In the second half, Lebanon pressed forward strongly but the momentum was quickly stopped when Vietnam counter-attacked and scored the 4th goal. Ngoc Anh fired a shot from outside the box, the ball hit the defender and changed direction, going straight into the net, sealing a 4-0 victory. This result helped Vietnam futsal win a ticket to participate in the Asian futsal tournament.

The 2026 AFC Futsal Championship will take place in Indonesia from January 27 to February 7. In the past, the best achievement of the Vietnamese futsal team was finishing 4th in 2016. Iran is the most successful team with 13 championships.
