Alcaraz won 2 victories on the final day but still could not help the European team turn the tables.

The explosive moment came in the final match when Fritz, the Californian who had beaten Alcaraz the day before, continued to overcome Zverev in a tense match. He started dominant in the first set, held his nerve in the second and finished with a decisive backhand volley in the tie-break.

"Seeing my teammates screaming and the legend Andre standing up to cheer, it was impossible not to give it my all at every point" - Fritz shared after the match.

This year's world champion squad is a mix of experience and youth: Fritz, De Minaur, Francisco Cerundolo, Joao Fonseca, Jenson Brooksby plus two last-minute additions in Reilly Opelka and Alex Michelsen.

After the match, Agassi emotionally thanked the whole team for their "unity and trust" and promised to "fight with each person, anywhere, anytime".

This victory helps the world team reclaim the title they lost last year in Berlin, Germany.

Team Europe, who still have the most titles, having won five out of eight Laver Cups, co-founded by Roger Federer, will have a chance for revenge in London next year.
