On the occasion of the Anniversary of the Vietnamese Theatre, October 3, 2025, the family of People's Artist Dinh Bang Phi donated all the valuable documents that he had painstakingly compiled and preserved for decades to the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House.

This is a very special event. Although his health does not allow him to go to the theater to present it, through his son - Dinh Thanh Tam (former Principal of Duong Van Duong High School, Nha Be, Ho Chi Minh City), he expressed his gratitude to his ancestors and wished that his valuable documents would contribute practically to the preservation and promotion of traditional artistic values.

The family representative, Mr. Dinh Thanh Tam (born in 1961), son of People's Artist Dinh Bang Phi, told the reporter of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper that on behalf of the family, he will present the Theater with a massive collection of documents, including: Tuong Tuong plays compiled, collected and developed by People's Artist Dinh Bang Phi himself; In-depth research books on the art of Tuong Tuong and traditional theater; Newspapers, specialized magazines and research documents accumulated over many years.

"All are considered rare documents, of great scientific , artistic and historical value, reflecting my father's serious and persistent artistic work on the art of hát bội" - Mr. Đinh Thành Tâm said.

The award ceremony will take place on the morning of October 3 within the framework of the celebration of Vietnam Stage Tradition Day at the Ho Chi Minh City Hat Boi Art Theater.

Meritorious Artist Nguyen Hoang Vinh, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Hat Boi Art Theater, will represent the Theater to receive valuable materials from the family of People's Artist Dinh Bang Phi. He affirmed the responsibility to preserve, exploit and use them for the right purpose to serve the cause of developing Hat Boi theater now and in the future in Ho Chi Minh City. "The theater team wishes People's Artist Dinh Bang Phi good health and happiness, and to always be a support for generations of Hat Boi artists to follow" - Meritorious Artist Nguyen Hoang Vinh said.

The family of People's Artist Dinh Bang Phi expressed their wish that the documents would "go to the right place, be exploited and used effectively for the theater industry in the present and future." This is also a heartfelt wish, showing the artist's vision for the survival of the traditional art form.

The entire document is expected to become a "treasure trove of knowledge" for young artists - those who are striving to keep the passion for hát bội alive, students majoring in theater, and a valuable reference source for graduate students nationwide to study and practice traditional arts.

People's Artist Dinh Bang Phi is a great name who has devoted his whole life to the art of hát bội, standing out as a performer, researcher, composer and collector of great stature. The fact that his family donated all of his documents on the occasion of the Anniversary of the Ancestors of Vietnamese Theatre has a profound symbolic value: a word of gratitude to the ancestors, an act of entrusting the heritage to the next generation.
