DAWN. A special court in Pakistan has charged former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is also the Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Vice Chairman of PTI, with leaking state secrets.

PTI. India will resume issuing visas to Canadian citizens if New Delhi sees improvement in the safety of Indian diplomats , Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said.

REUTERS. Japanese carmaker Toyota lobbied the Indian government to reduce taxes on hybrid cars by more than 20% , saying they are less polluting, but did not receive a corresponding incentive.

KYODO. Japan's Fair Trade Commission has begun an investigation into technology giant Google over allegations it pressured smartphone makers.

EURO NEWS. The EU Council has decided to extend the current restrictive measures against the Islamic State (IS) and Al-Qaeda, as well as related individuals, groups, organisations and entities, for another year, until 31 October 2024.

AL JAZEERA. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan officially submitted Sweden's NATO membership application to the Parliament.

AFP. French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu said the government is in discussions with Saudi Arabia about the Rafale fighter jet deal .

ANADOLU. Turkey sent two cargo planes to Egypt on October 23, carrying medical equipment and supplies for the Gaza Strip, according to Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.

THE NATIONAL. UAE logistics company DP World has signed three contracts with the Tanzanian government to operate part of the country's Dar es Salaam port for 30 years.

ARAB NEWS. Qatar's national energy company QatarEnergy has reached an agreement to supply natural gas to Italy's Eni for 27 years.

SUNDAY TIMES. British Steel - UK steelmaker plans to cut 2,000 jobs , in an effort to cut costs in the transition to more environmentally friendly steelmaking technology.

America

NBC. The US government has announced a list of 31 technology centers that it will establish as part of a major investment plan that will create jobs and strengthen the country's security and economy.

CNN. The US State Department has ordered non-essential employees and their family members to leave the US Embassy in Baghdad and the US Consulate in Arbil, Iraq.

AFP. Colombian President Gustavo Petro visits China from October 24-26 as the leftist leader seeks to strengthen ties with the world's second-largest economy.

RIO NEWS. One student was killed and three others were injured in a shooting at a school in Sao Paulo, Brazil's largest city, and the perpetrator has been arrested.

AP. Representatives of 11 countries in the Latin American and Caribbean region met in the city of Palenque, Chiapas state, southern Mexico, to seek common solutions to the migration crisis.
