Huddersfield Town 0-2 Man City
Man City, with six academy graduates, had a comfortable 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town. Phil Foden continued to assert his leadership role when he opened the scoring with a beautiful combination with young talent Divine Mukasa before unleashing a dangerous long-range shot. In the 60th minute, Savinho sealed the victory with a decisive finish.

Coach Pep Guardiola created a surprise when he sent two brothers, Reigan and Jaden Heskey – sons of former striker Emile Heskey – onto the field, in addition to allowing Kalvin Phillips to return to "The Citizens" after 645 days of absence.
Newcastle 4-1 Bradford City
Newcastle eased past Bradford City 4-1 at St James' Park. Joelinton and William Osula each scored twice to give the Magpies a perfect start as League Cup holders. The goals came in droves, with Second Division side Bradford City quickly collapsing, although Andy Cook did manage to score a consolation goal for the visitors.

This match also shows that Osula – the young Danish striker – is increasingly asserting his position in coach Eddie Howe's squad.
Tottenham 3-0 Doncaster Rovers
Tottenham also won 3-0 at home against Doncaster Rovers. Joao Palhinha opened the scoring with a free-kick from inside the box, before Jay McGrath clumsily scored an own goal. Doncaster started confidently, but the difference in class let them down in injury time when Brennan Johnson sealed the 3-0 result for the home side.

Port Vale 0-2 Arsenal
Arsenal ended their impressive run of Premier League big men with a 2-0 win at Port Vale. New signing Eberechi Eze made an early impact with the opening goal in the 8th minute. Despite having more than 80% possession, Arsenal had to wait until the 86th minute to double their lead, thanks to Leandro Trossard's accurate long-range shot - once again showing the depth of the squad under coach Mikel Arteta.
