In late May, Deputy Minister Mularczyk announced that Poland had begun calculating the damage caused by the Soviet Union's actions during and after World War II.

Accordingly, the Military Research Institute was assigned to report on this issue.

Previously, Poland repeatedly declared its demand for compensation worth 1,300 billion USD from Germany.

The head of the 3rd European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Oleg Tyapkin, assessed Poland's move to demand Russia to pay reparations for damages during World War II as " political fiction".

The Russian Foreign Ministry said Poland was engaging in a “two-faced policy” when assessing the events of World War II and deliberately forgetting the role of the Soviet people in saving European countries from Nazi Germany.

Tensions between Russia and Poland have worsened since Russia's special military operation in Ukraine, with Warsaw seeing itself as one of Kiev's key allies.
