According to Yonhap news agency, July 15 is the deadline for the Korean government to persuade interns, who left their workplaces at the end of February this year to protest medical reform, to return to hospitals due to the recruitment time for interns in September.
However, there is little sign that the doctors will return to work as hospitals prepare to accept their resignations. The South Korean government has said that if the interns do not respond, they will be automatically fired.
Last week, the South Korean government decided to withdraw all penalties for medical interns who do not comply with orders to return to work.
More than 12,000 medical interns, accounting for more than 90% of the total number of medical interns in Korea, have been on strike in the form of mass resignations since February 20 to protest the government's increase in medical school admission quotas.
