TPO – The iconic architectural works of Da Nang through the hands of young people are "miniature", attracting locals and tourists to stop by and visit and learn.

The massive architectural works, the highlight of Da Nang, are neatly "miniatured" on the model with meticulously crafted details that make everyone admire.

That is the Cathedral, the Governor's Palace, the more than 100-year-old Cham Sculpture Museum, the Hai Van Quan towering in the mountains and forests, the ancient Tuy Loan Communal House, the modern Tien Son Palace...

All are the marks of a young, dynamic city but also imbued with unique cultural features in the flow of history.

These works were all made by students from local universities and colleges within the framework of the Competition for making typical architectural models in Da Nang City.

Launched in early October, the competition has attracted a large number of young people to participate with many elaborate and meticulous construction models. Thereby, the Organizing Committee has selected 8 constructions to participate in the Final Round and display at this year's Heritage Cultural Festival.

Knowing about the contest through the Facebook page of the Da Nang Museum, Nguyen Trung Nam (student of the University of Education - Da Nang University) and 2 friends registered to participate and started to make the model of the Cham Sculpture Museum.

The museum is a familiar place for studying and researching for students of the History department like Nam and his friends during their training at the school. The group has visited and studied here many times, so they are quite familiar with the architecture, arrangement, and layout of the buildings...

According to Nam, the group also studied historical documents to get the clearest picture of the project and it took 3 weeks to complete. All materials were made from cardboard, A4 paper, ice cream sticks, bamboo sticks, etc.

“Through competitions like this, young people like us have the opportunity to learn and know more about iconic works associated with the city’s development history. During the implementation process, the group also approached and learned information, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of the history, architecture, and construction process of these meaningful works,” Nam said.

Mr. Tran Van Chuan - Head of Collection, Display and Preservation Department (Da Nang Museum) said that although the competition was implemented in a short time, it received the attention of many architecture lovers, especially young people.

“The models on display attract a large number of visitors. We also arrange volunteers to guide and share with residents and tourists to learn more about the city’s iconic architectural works, thereby inspiring the passion and learning about local history in young people,” said Mr. Chuan.
