Ensuring traffic safety on roads at risk of landslides

Due to the impact of storms and rains, in Dak Lak province, some road infrastructure works have been eroded, posing a potential risk to traffic safety.

Faced with this situation, the government and relevant units have activated and effectively promoted the "four on-the-spot" motto (on-the-spot command, on-the-spot forces, on-the-spot supplies and means, on-the-spot logistics) to promptly overcome the consequences and protect people's lives and property.

The Department of Construction said that due to the impact of the recent storm No. 9, National Highway 14C was partially flooded at some locations through Ia Rve and Ea Bung communes. In addition, two drainage culverts through Ea Bung and Buon Don communes had their embankment eroded downstream. On National Highway 27 through Lien Son Lak commune, a rock fell from the positive slope into a longitudinal ditch; the section through Dak Phoi commune had landslides that filled the road surface and longitudinal ditch...

Trees fell on Highway 29.

On National Highway 29, the road surface is partially flooded in some locations, the road surface is damaged, and potholes are scattered along the route.

Deputy Director of the Department of Construction Nguyen Tan Chan said that after the flooding and local damage on the roads, the department has directed functional units to urgently fix the problem. At flooded and landslide locations, the units have coordinated with local authorities to divert traffic, set up barriers and signals at locations with deep flooding, overflows, and landslides, etc. to ensure traffic safety for people and vehicles. At the same time, human resources and machinery have been mobilized to cut trees, clear trees, clear soil and rocks to fill the road surface and longitudinal ditches to ensure traffic safety and drainage of longitudinal ditches.

Work to overcome the landslide incident on National Highway 27 through Dak Phoi commune was promptly deployed.

Localities also activated the "four on-site" motto to overcome the incident. In Dak Phoi commune, the People's Committee sent leaders and officials to the scene to warn people; coordinated with relevant units to clear soil, rocks, and fallen trees from the road. In addition, due to the complicated weather situation, the locality also broadcast announcements through loudspeaker systems and on social networking platforms to remind people and drivers to pay attention when traveling through road sections with high risk of landslides.

Deputy Director of the Department of Construction Nguyen Tan Chan added that, along with measures taken by functional agencies and local authorities, the department also recommends that people minimize traffic through damaged bridges and roads, landslides caused by storms and floods; strictly comply with signs, barriers and instructions of functional forces.
