Storm Than Gio began to move south, keeping a straight track from Da Nang to Quang Ngai.

After turning from west-northwest to west, storm Than Gio (storm number 12) began moving southwest and maintained this direction until making landfall.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that at 10am today, storm Than Gio (storm number 12) was about 125km north of Hoang Sa special zone.

The strongest wind near the storm center is level 9-10 (75-102km/h), gusting to level 12. The storm is moving southwest at a speed of 10-15km/h.

The storm will maintain this movement in the coming days. Tomorrow the storm will be in the sea west of Hoang Sa, about 190km east-northeast of Da Nang . Wind force is level 8, gusting to level 10.

On October 23, the storm made landfall from Da Nang to Quang Ngai , then gradually weakened into a tropical depression and then a low pressure area over southern Laos.

The storm causes the western sea area of the northern East Sea (including Hoang Sa archipelago) to have strong winds of level 7-8, the area near the storm's eye has strong winds of level 9-10, gusts of level 12, waves 3-5m high, the area near the storm's eye has waves of 5-7m, and very rough seas.

The storm also causes strong winds of level 6 in the sea from southern Quang Tri to Quang Ngai (including Ly Son and Cu Lao Cham). Early tomorrow morning, the wind will increase to level 7, near the storm center it will be level 8, gusting to level 10, waves 3-5m high, and rough seas.

Vessels operating in hazardous areas are at high risk of encountering storms, whirlwinds, strong winds and large waves.

Due to the influence of storm circulation combined with cold air and easterly winds, and topographic effects, from tomorrow night the Central region will experience widespread heavy rain. River water levels from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai are likely to reach or exceed alert level 3.
