The patient is Mr. H.D.H. (Phuoc Thai commune, Dong Nai province), who came to the hospital because he had not seen anything in his left eye for many months. Mr. H. said that at the beginning of this year, he often felt itchy and ticklish in his left eye. Thinking that dust had gotten into his eyes and blurred his vision, Mr. H. rubbed his eyes and did not go to any medical facility for examination, but went to a pharmacy near his house to buy eye drops.
After a period of using eye drops that he can't remember the name of, Mr. H's left eye gradually became blurry, the pupil became cloudy and white, and he could not see anything.

At the Hanoi - Dong Nai Eye Hospital, after being refracted and having his vision checked, Mr. H. was examined by doctors and diagnosed with white cataracts. The treatment method was Phaco surgery. The patient underwent an ultrasound, blood tests, urine tests and surgery. After about 7 minutes, the surgery was successful, the patient only needed to rest and go home the same day.
Specialist Doctor I Bui Thai Dat, Head of the General Ophthalmology Department, Hanoi - Dong Nai Eye Hospital said: Cataracts are common in the elderly, aged 70 and over. The case of patient H., who is only 49 years old, has a white cataract, which is quite rare. Compared to other cases, this case is more difficult to operate, so it requires a highly skilled surgeon and modern equipment. If the patient does not receive early treatment, in a short time, this white opaque lens can turn into glaucoma, leading to permanent vision loss and incurability.
According to Dr. Dat, many people are quite subjective when they have eye problems. Many people arbitrarily buy eye drops to treat without going to see a specialist early. When the disease becomes severe, treatment becomes difficult, many cases cannot be cured, leading to permanent blindness. Therefore, when having eye problems such as blurred vision, pain, irritation, etc., patients need to see a specialist early for examination, diagnosis, consultation, and timely treatment to avoid unfortunate consequences.
