Arrested woman who cheated 25 people in the commune, embezzling more than 23 billion VND

On July 1, information from Quang Binh Provincial Police just issued an emergency arrest warrant for a subject who defrauded people of more than 23 billion VND.

The arrested person is Nguyen Thi Thuy (born in 1984, residing in Hai Ninh commune, Quang Ninh district, Quang Binh).

According to the police, Thuy had a large debt in her business. To pay off the debt, she met many people in the area and provided information that she needed money to pay off the bank loan in order to raise capital.

To gain the trust of her “prey”, Thuy promised to give them high profits. Trusting Thuy, many people lent money to this woman.

Using that trick, from the end of 2022 to May 2023, Nguyen Thi Thuy defrauded more than 25 people in Hai Ninh commune, appropriating more than 23 billion VND.

Thuy used this embezzled money to pay off debts and personal expenses.

On June 29, the Criminal Police Department, Quang Binh Provincial Police coordinated with Quang Ninh District Police to execute an emergency search warrant and issue an emergency detention order against Nguyen Thi Thuy.

The authorities are completing the dossier and handling Nguyen Thi Thuy according to the provisions of law.
