Warning: Facebook impersonates the Ministry of Finance to scam

The Ministry of Finance said that the Facebook page "Ministry of Finance - Application Portal" (or similar pages) is fake, people and businesses need to be vigilant.

According to the report, the Facebook page named “ Ministry of Finance - Application Portal” uses the images and information of the Ministry of Finance, and has a blue tick. This page claims to represent the Ministry of Finance to help “recover money” for victims of online fraud; asking people to provide personal information, transfer receipts and transfer a “fee” or “processing cost” to get back the lost money.

The Ministry of Finance confirmed that the Facebook page “Ministry of Finance - Application Portal” (or similar pages) is fake. The Ministry of Finance recommends that people and businesses be highly vigilant and not follow the instructions from the information and posts on the above Facebook page to avoid being scammed by bad guys. When detecting signs of fraud, individuals and organizations need to report to the authorities to avoid losses.

Currently, the Ministry of Finance is coordinating with relevant agencies to clarify the act of impersonating the Ministry of Finance's website and fanpage.

Previously, the Ministry of Finance has repeatedly informed about acts of impersonating the Ministry of Finance to commit fraud in cyberspace.

Currently, the Ministry of Finance only uses the Electronic Information Portal (domain name: https://www.mof.gov.vn) to provide information on the activities of the Finance sector to people and businesses.

The Tax Department also just announced that on the Facebook platform, information appeared that "The Tax Department sent an official dispatch via SPX, received payment of 80k, when opened, inside contained a photocopy of a state agency's document...".

The Tax Department informs people to know, prevent and promptly notify the nearest authorities if any subjects contact to send and demand payment for delivery fees.

The Tax Department also requested post offices and shipping units to inform the authorities when receiving envelopes of the above type to coordinate verification and clarification.
