On June 25, the Ministry of Public Security announced that, based on the investigation results, the Ministry of Public Security's Security Investigation Agency initiated a criminal case of "Appropriation of State secret documents" occurring in Hanoi and other provinces and cities.

At the same time, a decision was made to prosecute the accused, an order to arrest the accused for temporary detention, and a search warrant for the residence of Mr. Nguyen Van Yen, former deputy head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission .

Mr. Yen was prosecuted and temporarily detained to investigate the crime of appropriating state secret documents" as prescribed in Article 337 of the Penal Code.

After the Supreme People's Procuracy approved, the Ministry of Public Security's Security Investigation Agency served the Decision to prosecute the accused, executed the Arrest Warrant to detain the accused, and searched the residence of the accused Nguyen Van Yen.

Currently, the case is being further investigated and clarified by the Ministry of Public Security's Security Investigation Agency for handling according to the provisions of law.

Previously, the Politburo and the Secretariat determined that Mr. Nguyen Van Yen - Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission - had lacked self-cultivation and training, had degraded in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle, violated Party regulations and laws on protecting state secrets, declaring assets, income, marriage and family; violated regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do and responsibilities to set an example, causing very serious consequences, public outrage, and negatively affecting the reputation of the Party organization, agency, and work unit. The Secretariat decided to remove Mr. Nguyen Van Yen from all positions in the Party.
