Temporarily suspend the duties of National Assembly delegate for Mr. Tran Van Thuc

On the afternoon of September 15, the Office of the National Assembly issued a press release stating that the National Assembly Standing Committee issued Resolution No. 1825/NQ-UBTVQH15 (dated September 13), deciding to allow prosecution, temporary detention, search and temporary suspension of the performance of duties and powers of a National Assembly deputy against Mr. Tran Van Thuc, a deputy of the 15th National Assembly.

On the same day, information from the Thanh Hoa provincial authorities said that the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Investigation Agency had prosecuted and issued an order to temporarily detain Mr. Tran Van Thuc, former Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa province, for crimes under Article 359 of the Penal Code. These decisions were approved by the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Procuracy.

Mr. Tran Van Thuc, born in 1969, used to be the Principal of Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism, then Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa province. From March 2025, he was transferred to hold the position of Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee.

According to the investigation agency, Mr. Tran Van Thuc was prosecuted for violations in enrollment that occurred during his tenure as Director of the Department of Education and Training of Thanh Hoa province.
