On October 6, Ninh Binh Provincial Eye Hospital announced that it had just treated a child who was unfortunately hit in the eye by fireworks while watching fireworks celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Previously, on the evening of October 4, Ninh Binh Provincial Eye Hospital received a 2-year-old patient (residing in Yen Mo commune) with an eye injury caused by fireworks.

Doctors promptly treated a child who was unfortunately hit in the eye by a firework (Photo: Hospital provided).
The patient’s family said that after dinner, the child stood watching fireworks to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. Because the fireworks were placed in the wrong direction, when they were lit, they shot directly into the child’s eyes, causing injury.
Receiving the patient, the doctors diagnosed the child with burns and severe trauma to the conjunctiva and cornea caused by fireworks sparks.
The patient was treated with antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and corneal care. The eye condition has gradually recovered.
Doctors at Ninh Binh Provincial Eye Hospital said this is not an uncommon accident during the holidays, especially with children and teenagers.
Doctors recommend that everyone, especially children, do not light or play with fireworks or flares on their own; keep a safe distance when watching fireworks; wait until the fireworks have finished before approaching. In case of an accident, absolutely do not rub your eyes, do not wash or bandage them yourself, but go to the nearest eye specialist medical facility.
