At the reception, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang expressed his joy at the visit, affirming that the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba over the past 65 years has always been strong, becoming a symbol of pure and loyal international solidarity. He emphasized that the Vietnamese people, including Ho Chi Minh City, always remember the immortal words of the late President Fidel Castro: "For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its blood."
Mr. Tran Luu Quang shared that the difficulties Cuba is facing are reminiscent of the time Vietnam faced more than 40 years ago. "We used to worry about this, but we have had initial success with the argument that the path to socialism is only meaningful when people's lives become better and better," the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee emphasized.
Ho Chi Minh City leaders said Cuba has had the right orientation in socio -economic development, especially focusing on food and energy. Ho Chi Minh City is ready to share experiences so that Cuba can proactively produce high-yield rice.
Regarding investment attraction, Secretary Tran Luu Quang said that to improve efficiency, Cuba needs to continue expanding conditions and policies to attract more investors, first of all supporting currently operating businesses to achieve success and sustainable development.
Mr. Tran Luu Quang affirmed: "Ho Chi Minh City is committed to actively participating in promoting cooperation with Cuba, including the investment sector in the coming time."
At the meeting, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez thanked the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City for sharing valuable experiences in building and developing the country, making Ho Chi Minh City an economic locomotive. Expressing his joy at Vietnam's achievements in economic, social and foreign affairs development, Mr. Esteban Lazo Hernandez affirmed that this is a great source of encouragement for the Cuban revolutionary cause.
The President of the Cuban National Assembly informed about the current difficulties, but emphasized the policies that Cuba is implementing to stabilize and improve people's lives, and at the same time highly valued learning from Vietnam's experiences, especially the renovation process. He also highly appreciated the resolutions and draft laws issued by the Vietnamese Party and National Assembly, saying that these are valuable lessons for Cuba to apply in practice.
The President of the Cuban National Assembly hopes that Vietnamese businesses, especially those in Ho Chi Minh City, will continue to expand cooperation in the fields of economics, education, biotechnology, healthcare and renewable energy.
On this occasion, Mr. Esteban Lazo Hernandez thanked the Party, State and people of Vietnam for launching the program "65 years of Vietnam - Cuba Friendship" in 2025, and affirmed that it is a noble gesture to help the Cuban people overcome difficulties and natural disasters.
