Billiards: Defeating the reigning national champion, Bao Phuong Vinh impressively won the title

Bao Phuong Vinh made a dramatic comeback in the semi-finals before winning the championship.

In the final match of the men's 3-cushion carom category on the afternoon of October 4, Bao Phuong Vinh defeated Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu to win the championship (the reigning national 3-cushion carom billiards champion). This was a match in which the former world champion started well with two series of 7 points to lead 28-20 after the first round. Despite being under a lot of pressure from Thanh Tu, Phuong Vinh still maintained his advantage to win 50-42 after 34 rounds.

Previously in the semi-finals, Bao Phuong Vinh had an emotional comeback, winning dramatically 50-49 against Nguyen Nhat Hoa despite being behind 43-49. Nhat Hoa is a player in high form and was the one who eliminated Tran Quyet Chien in the quarter-finals.

In the men's 3-cushion carom event, Bao Phuong Vinh won the championship and received 50 million VND. Runner-up Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu received 20 million VND. Nguyen Nhat Hoa and Dao Van Ly tied for third place, receiving 10 million VND. Nguyen Nhu Le received the "excellent series" award with a 20-point cue and Le Van Thai received the "best game" award with an efficiency of 3,182 points/cue, each receiving 5 million VND.

Veteran player Lim Leng dominated the game, leading 6-2 after the first set before winning 11-8 against Ngo Hong Thang to win the men's 9-ball pool championship. Lim Leng is the coach of the Ho Chi Minh City pool team. He has won the national championship twice. However, he has been a coach for many years now. This is his championship after 12 years, since the 2013 national championship. A surprising result for fans.

The women's 3-cushion carom championship went to Nguyen Duc Yen Sinh with a 30-12 victory over Luong Thi Thom. Meanwhile, Bui Xuan Vang won an overwhelming 7-3 victory over Le Hong Nhung to win the women's 9-cushion pool championship.

In the women's 3-cushion carom category, champion Nguyen Duc Yen Sinh received 10 million VND. Runner-up Luong Thi Thom received 5 million VND. Joint third place went to Nguyen Thi Thu and Hua Thao Huyen, receiving 2 million VND.

In the men's 9-ball pool category, champion Lim Leng received 50 million VND. Runner-up Ngo Hong Thang received 20 million VND. Nguyen Truong Quoc and Nguyen Anh Tuan tied for third place, receiving 10 million VND.

Finally, in the women's 9-ball pool category, champion Bui Xuan Vang received 10 million VND. Runner-up Le Hong Nhung received 5 million VND. Joint third place Tran Tu Tran and Duong Gia Linh received 2 million VND.
