On December 28, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province announced that Vice Chairman Ho Quang Buu had just signed a decision to declare an emergency situation regarding landslides on Tan Thanh beach (Cam An ward, Hoi An city).

Accordingly, due to the influence of the northeast monsoon and high tides, big waves appeared in Hoi An sea, affecting the coastal area in Tan Thanh block, causing serious landslides.

More than 200m of Hoi An coastline continues to suffer serious erosion.

The temporary embankment in this area was damaged by large waves and strong winds, and a large amount of sand was washed away. The landslide was about 225m long, with an average depth of 5-7m, cutting deep into the coast, threatening people's property and infrastructure.

The previously reinforced embankment was now devastated by the waves.

Faced with this situation, Quang Nam assigned Hoi An City to set up signs, stretch warning ropes, delineate dangerous areas and deploy guards to prevent people and tourists from entering dangerous areas.

At the same time, implement emergency measures to respond to and overcome consequences, minimizing damage caused by natural disasters.

Residents and owners of coastal tourist establishments have had to buy sand and sew large sacks to reinforce themselves to protect their property and minimize damage.

It is known that over the past many years, Hoi An's coastline (total length of about 7.5km) has continuously experienced landslides and erosion, which are becoming increasingly serious.

To ensure the safety, lives and property of the people, Quang Nam and Hoi An City have implemented many construction solutions such as building hard and soft embankments, underground embankments to prevent waves, etc. with a budget of thousands of billions of VND. However, in the face of the devastation of nature, many sections of Hoi An's coastline continue to suffer serious erosion.
