On the evening of October 2, at Da Nang International Airport, flight number CZ8155 of China Southern Airlines from Shenzhen (China) landed, bringing more than 170 passengers to the coastal city.
The welcoming ceremony was solemnly held at T2 International Terminal, with traditional art performances and souvenirs for visitors, demonstrating the typical hospitality of Da Nang.
The event was attended by leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Foreign Affairs, Da Nang International Airport, Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT) and other relevant agencies. This is considered an important milestone, marking the return of one of Da Nang's key international markets.

Chinese tourists return – new growth expectations
Before 2020, China had always maintained its second position in the top international tourist markets to Da Nang, with 5 regular routes and 29 charter routes. The opening of the Shenzhen - Da Nang route by China Southern Airlines not only restored tourism connections but also opened up many trade opportunities between the two localities.
Ms. Mairehaba Yisilayili, representative of China Southern Airlines in Vietnam, said: “According to the plan, we will operate six round-trip flights in October on the 2nd, 6th, 10th, 14th, 18th and 22nd. As one of the leading airlines in Asia, China Southern Airlines is committed to providing passengers with safe flights, comfortable and efficient services.”
On the Da Nang side, Mr. Ho The Anh, General Director of Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT), shared: “We have been patiently waiting for 5 years, 8 months and 1 day to joyfully say “Welcome back!” to our close friend China Southern Airlines at this terminal. AHT deeply appreciates the trust of China Southern Airlines in choosing Da Nang as a destination in the airline's recovery and route expansion plan.”

The Shenzhen – Da Nang route will be a powerful catalyst to open up great opportunities, attract more tourist and commercial flows and facilitate experts and investors interested in exploring investment opportunities in the Da Nang Free Trade Zone and International Financial Center.
Increasing attractiveness from key markets
Da Nang identifies China as a top international market, not only in terms of tourism but also in terms of trade and investment. With a population of more than 17 million people, Shenzhen is considered a major technology and financial center of China, home to many of the world's leading corporations. Restoring direct flights to Shenzhen therefore has great significance both economically and culturally.
Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, affirmed: “The operation of the Shenzhen - Da Nang flight route has practical significance, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China. This event will open up opportunities for cultural exchange, attract investment, connect businesses and promote sustainable tourism development between Chinese cities and Da Nang in particular and Central Vietnam in general.”

According to Ms. Hanh, Da Nang tourism industry is facing a great opportunity with the goal of building an international financial center, a free trade zone and developing into a high-tech and innovation center in the region. Therefore, the growth of Chinese tourists is not only for tourism but also opens up prospects for comprehensive cooperation in the fields of trade, investment and high-quality services.
This event is expected to be a bridge for multi-dimensional development. From flights bringing tourists, investors and experts to Da Nang, the city has the opportunity to affirm its position as a “safe, friendly and rich destination”. Da Nang residents also have more options to explore Shenzhen – the most modern center in Asia.
The return of Chinese tourists is not only an event to promote tourism, but also affirms the role of Da Nang as a gateway for exchange, integration, and connecting the central region of Vietnam with leading economic centers in Asia./.
