Ministry of Education and Training praises Da Nang Police for destroying fake book sales ring

At the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh - Deputy Head of the Department of Organization and Personnel (Ministry of Education and Training) authorized the leadership of the Ministry of Education and Training to send congratulations and thanks to the Da Nang City Police force in the investigation team.

“If textbooks are counterfeited, the consequences will be huge, so cracking down on the production and trade of fake textbooks is extremely important. Hopefully, the Da Nang City Police and the Ministry of Public Security will continue to accompany the Ministry of Education and Training in the coming time,” Ms. Hanh shared.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh - Chairman of the Board of Members, General Director of Vietnam Education Publishing House awarded Certificates of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training to 2 groups and 3 individuals of Da Nang City Police for their outstanding achievements in dismantling a ring of fake textbook production and trading.

Previously, on June 14, the Economic - Environmental Police Department (Da Nang City Police) coordinated with professional units of the City Police to destroy a large-scale fake textbook production and trading ring in Da Nang City.

This ring was led by Le Duy Quang (42 years old) and Nguyen Van Anh (44 years old, both residing in An Hai Bac ward, Son Tra district, Da Nang city).

Expanding the investigation, the task force continued to discover and arrest 3 more people in Ho Chi Minh City, including Nguyen Trung Luat (43 years old, residing in District 12), Pham Ngoc Quang (47 years old, residing in Go Vap District) and Pham Thach Kim Dien (39 years old, residing in Binh Tan District).

The seized exhibits included 1 million stamps, 600,000 fake finished and semi-finished books, worth about 12 billion VND, along with many printing equipment such as: printers, cutters, staplers, zinc plates, printing paper...

Initial statistics show that in 2 years this group has produced and consumed about 4 million textbooks.
