Minister Nguyen Van Hung met and rewarded U23 Vietnam after winning the U23 Southeast Asian Championship

With a 1-0 victory over U23 Indonesia in the final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, the U23 Vietnam team was crowned champion right in Jakarta, Indonesia. This is also the third consecutive championship of U23 Vietnam in the regional arena, proving the correct development of Vietnamese football in investing in youth training.

At the meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, with the participation of Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong; leaders of the functional Departments of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; President of the Vietnam Football Federation Tran Quoc Tuan... Minister Nguyen Van Hung congratulated coach Kim Sang-sik and his team and the U23 Vietnam players.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that the U23 Southeast Asian Football Championship is a fiercely competitive playground, so winning glory, especially when having to play away from home under great pressure, is not easy. The Minister acknowledged the efforts and thorough preparation of the team after two previous championships, and emphasized that this victory is not just the result of a tournament but the result of a whole process of meticulous and professional training and education.

Minister Nguyen Van Hung praised U23 Vietnam as "hardworking, diligent, patient bees" that produce sweet, glorious fruit.

Besides, Minister Nguyen Van Hung reminded the whole team to always keep in mind the Vietnamese motto: "win without pride, lose without discouragement", and expressed his hope that the youth, enthusiasm, the process of systematic training and the encouragement of millions of fans will become the fire that fuels the spirit, helping the team to fulfill its responsibility before the Fatherland and the people.

In recognition of the team's great contributions, on behalf of the Prime Minister , Minister Nguyen Van Hung presented the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to the team and 24 individuals. In addition, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also awarded 5 Certificates of Merit to outstanding team members. In particular, the Vietnam Olympic Committee decided to award 500 million VND to the team for their excellent achievements in this tournament.

On the team side, head coach Kim Sang-sik expressed his honor to be welcomed by Minister Nguyen Van Hung, and was moved to share his great joy when the team received a congratulatory letter from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh right after the emotional final match with U23 Indonesia. According to him, this victory is a strong source of motivation for the whole team to aim for two big goals this year: the U23 Asian Qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.
