Before the new season, there was information that Hoa Binh Club would withdraw and not compete in the national first division 2025 - 2026. But on August 29, the leaders of Hoa Binh Club affirmed that the team will continue to compete normally in the new season 2025 - 2026.
At that time, the leaders of Hoa Binh Club even left open the idea of changing the name to Phu Tho Club and choosing Viet Tri Stadium as their home ground. However, the team's withdrawal caused a surprise at the last minute for the national first division.
According to Thanh Nien Newspaper, the National First Division Organizing Committee will urgently reorganize the draw ceremony on the morning of September 11. It is expected that the number of teams participating in the 2025-2026 National First Division season will stop at 12. Previously, Dong Nai Club had asked to withdraw while Binh Phuoc Club asked to change its name to Truong Tuoi Dong Nai.
No redraw of National Cup
The National Cup does not have to be redrawn. According to the schedule, Hoa Binh will meet the host Khanh Hoa on September 12. After the away team withdrew, Khanh Hoa went straight to the round of 16.
VPF said: "Similar to the 2023 season, Saigon FC withdrew from participating before the tournament started, the Organizing Committee also applied not to redraw the National Cup. The 2025 - 2026 National Cup will still have the participation of 25 teams with 24 matches.
According to the plan, the 2025 National First Division Football Tournament will start on September 19, 2025 and end on June 20, 2026. The 2025 - 2026 National Cup will start qualifying matches from September 12 and the final match will take place on June 28, 2026.
