Yesterday afternoon (October 21), FAT suddenly fired coach Masatada Ishii (Japanese). FAT's decisive decision, combined with the fact that the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers will soon return next month, has led many to predict that FAT already has a name to replace Mr. Ishii.

This morning, Thailand's leading daily newspaper Thairath reported: "According to a source from FAT, the announcement of the new coach of the Thai national team will take place today at the earliest, and next week at the latest."
“The War Elephants (the nickname of the Thai team) will soon have an international friendly match with Singapore on November 13. After that, Thailand will meet the Sri Lanka team on November 18, within the framework of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers,” Thairath added.
According to this newspaper, the leading candidate for the position of head coach of the Golden Temple country team is Mr. Anthony Hudson (British), who is currently holding the position of Technical Director (GĐKT) of FAT.

Meanwhile, the Thai newspaper Siam Sport listed 10 names that could potentially replace Mr. Masatada Ishii, notably former Dutch football star Ruud van Nistelrooy, former coach of the Korean and Indonesian national teams Shin Tae Yong (Korean), and former Thai football stars Kiatiauk Senamuang and Tawan Sripan.
However, in the current context of urgent appointments, it is likely that FAT will lean towards coaches who understand Thai football. Therefore, Mr. Ruud van Nistelrooy and Mr. Shin Tae Yong may not be suitable for the Thai team at this time.
On the contrary, FAT Technical Director Anthony Hudson and domestic coaches Kiatisuk and Tawan have a big advantage over the remaining candidates.
The Thai team has a great chance to win a ticket to the final round of the Asian Cup 2027. The team from the land of the golden pagoda is leading Group D of the third qualifying round of the Asian Cup taking place two years from now.
