Dynamic manufacturing center
In the period of 2021-2025, Thai Nguyen's average GRDP growth rate will reach about 7.3% per year. The economic scale in 2025 is estimated to reach more than 202 trillion VND, 1.6 times higher than in 2020. Contributing to this overall result, the industrial sector plays a key driving role, affirming its leading position in the economic structure.
Industrial production value maintained an average growth rate of 8%/year. It is expected to exceed VND 1.1 million billion by 2025, a clear demonstration of the resilience of the manufacturing industry in the context of fierce competition and increasingly deep international integration. In particular, the FDI sector accounts for more than 90% of production value, demonstrating its dominant role.
The presence of Samsung Group (Korea) in Yen Binh Industrial Park (IP) is a highlight. With a revenue of tens of billions of USD each year, this enterprise has become the "locomotive" of Thai Nguyen industry. Not only creating a large source of budget revenue, Samsung also attracts hundreds of satellite enterprises, forming the most advanced electronic - high-tech ecosystem in the country. Other international corporations are also continuously expanding production, contributing to growth.
At the same time, the domestic economic sector is increasingly asserting its role. Although accounting for about 8% of industrial production value, many domestic enterprises have boldly innovated technology, deeply participated in the supply chain, and gradually affirmed their position. This dynamism helps Thai Nguyen have more pillars for growth, gradually reducing its dependence on FDI.
In 2025, Mani Hanoi Co., Ltd. aims to increase revenue by 5% and export product output by 10%. |
Not only creating production value, Thai Nguyen industry also brings clear social efficiency. Hundreds of thousands of jobs are created, workers' income is stable, leading to the development of services, trade, urban and social infrastructure. These are vivid proofs of the position of a dynamic industrial center of the Northern Midlands and Mountains.
Attractive destination for investors
One of the great successes of Thai Nguyen is its ability to strongly attract domestic and foreign investment capital. After the administrative boundary merger, the province has more space for development with a total of 19 approved industrial parks, with a total area of over 6,400 hectares. Of these, 12 industrial parks have been established, 6 of which have been put into effective operation, including: Song Cong I, Diem Thuy, Nam Pho Yen, Yen Binh, Song Cong II and Thanh Binh.
According to statistics in the period 2020-2024, enterprises in industrial zones achieved an average revenue of 30 billion USD/year, export turnover reached nearly 27 billion USD, paid about 8,500 billion VND to the budget, created jobs for more than 90,000 workers with a stable income of 7 to 9.5 million VND/person/month. In the first 8 months of 2025 alone, industrial zones achieved a revenue of more than 21 billion USD, an increase of over 7% over the same period, despite the volatile world economic context.
"The infrastructure of Thai Nguyen's industrial parks is synchronously invested, the labor force is abundant and highly skilled. This is an important factor for us to continue expanding production investment in the coming time" - Mr. Liu Jiang Feng, Production Director of RQ Co., Ltd.
Geopolitical advantages and infrastructure connectivity are important factors for the province to attract investors. Thai Nguyen is about 70km from Hanoi, 50km from Noi Bai International Airport, conveniently connected via Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway, National Highway 3 and inter-regional beltways. This is a strategic location that helps the province attract large-scale projects, especially in the high-tech sector.
With synchronous and modern infrastructure, Yen Binh Industrial Park has recently attracted many large domestic and foreign investors. |
The difference that makes investors trust is the transparent investment environment and the real support of the government. Administrative procedures are processed quickly, incentive mechanisms are implemented within the legal framework, and social infrastructure in the industrial park is focused on. Many international business leaders highly appreciate Thai Nguyen's spirit of "saying goes hand in hand with doing", considering this as the foundation for long-term production expansion.
In the 2021-2025 period, the province has granted new and adjusted capital increases for 150 FDI projects, with a total capital of 2.73 billion USD. To date, Thai Nguyen has 228 FDI projects, with a total capital of 11.2 billion USD, among the leading localities in the country in attracting foreign investment.
Mr. Jang Hwa Su, General Director of You Sung Vina Co., Ltd. (Korea), said: We are very pleased to invest in Thai Nguyen. The provincial government always accompanies and quickly handles procedures, helping businesses focus on production. The authorities also care about the lives of workers, from industrial park infrastructure to support policies, creating a stable and sustainable working environment, helping workers stay with the business for a long time.
Green and sustainable development
In the period 2025-2030, Thai Nguyen aims to become a modern industrial center of the region, with an average GRDP growth rate of about 10.5%/year. To achieve the goal, the province has identified green and sustainable industrial development as a key orientation.

New industrial zones must meet green infrastructure requirements, have centralized wastewater treatment systems, manage industrial waste and comply with modern environmental standards.
The province is determined to eliminate projects that pose a risk of pollution, while encouraging investment in clean, low-emission and energy-saving projects. This approach both protects the living environment and enhances the competitiveness of businesses in the context of increasingly stringent global green standards.
Along with that, the province focuses on developing supporting industries to increase autonomy. Programs to support domestic enterprises in upgrading technology, training human resources and linking supply are being implemented. The connection between enterprises and universities and research institutes in the area opens up new directions in research and application of science and technology.
However, the green development path poses many challenges. Heavy dependence on a few FDI corporations poses risks when the global supply chain fluctuates. The process of industrial expansion entails increasing pressure on the environment. The demand for high-quality human resources, especially in the fields of information technology, automation and production management, is also becoming an urgent issue.
Industrial clusters have been invested and built in many mountainous localities in the province. |
To respond, the province needs to continue reforming administrative procedures, promoting digital transformation in industrial park management, building a mechanism to support human resource development, encouraging innovation and expanding public-private cooperation.
Along with that, the development of logistics services, urban infrastructure and socio-cultural institutions will create a sustainable foundation, both serving production and improving people's quality of life.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Head of the Industrial Park Management Board of Thai Nguyen Province: In the process of attracting investment, we focus on building a transparent environment and accompanying investors from the survey stage to project implementation. The provincial government always listens and promptly resolves difficulties for businesses.
It can be seen that the achievements in recent times have affirmed the position of Thai Nguyen as an important industrial center on the national economic map. With stable growth momentum, increasingly attractive investment environment and green and sustainable development orientation, the province is converging all the conditions to realize the goal of industrialization and modernization.
In early 2025, the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province issued a Plan to implement the Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy in the province until 2030 and vision to 2050. The general goal is to strive to make Thai Nguyen province one of the leading centers for research, design, and production of specialized chips and electronic equipment in the country. Training and developing human resources for the semiconductor industry to serve domestic and international needs; developing Thai Nguyen into one of the semiconductor human resource centers in the region and globally. Promoting the province's existing advantages along with building and proposing competent authorities to build and promulgate support and incentive mechanisms of the province for enterprises, investors, experts, engineers, and highly qualified researchers in the field of semiconductors, to attract investment and attract human resources to develop the semiconductor industry in Thai Nguyen... |
