The BYD Dolphin Surf urban electric vehicle has just made a big mark when it achieved the maximum 5-star safety certification from Euro NCAP, one of the most stringent standards in Europe. This is a clear demonstration of the comprehensive technology strategy that BYD is pursuing, when providing the highest level of protection for passengers and traffic participants, even on an affordable car line.

According to the test results, the Dolphin Surf scored 82% in the adult protection category and 86% in the child protection category, with exceptional performance in the side impact test. The AEB automatic emergency braking system was noted to react accurately to bicycles, motorbikes and other vehicles, contributing to the model achieving 76% in the vulnerable road user protection criteria and 77% in the safety assistance category. This achievement makes the Dolphin Surf one of the safest small electric vehicles today.

“The 5-star Euro NCAP rating for the Dolphin Surf shows that we do not compromise on safety, even with our affordable models. This is another important step forward in our mission to popularize new energy vehicles,” said Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD.
This result also marks the eighth time BYD has received a 5-star certification in Europe since 2022, following the Atto 3, Seal, Tang or Sealion 7 models. Sealion 7 alone set a record for the highest score in Euro NCAP history in the child protection category.

In Vietnam, BYD officially joined in July 2024 and quickly expanded its product portfolio to 7 electric and hybrid vehicle models, along with more than 32 showrooms, service centers and charging stations nationwide. With a long-term development orientation, the company affirms that it will continue to bring Vietnamese customers green, safe products and after-sales services that meet global standards.
