Activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Hoi An Ancient Town becoming a World Cultural Heritage

VHO - To mark the important milestone of 25 years since Hoi An Ancient Town was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage (December 4, 1999 - December 4, 2024), Hoi An City People's Committee will organize many activities to celebrate this event.

This is also a series of events associated with the celebration of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23), 7 years of the art of Bài Chòi in Central Vietnam being recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity (December 7, 2017 - 2024), 15 years of Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An being recognized as a World Biosphere Reserve and Hoi An joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

In particular, visitors will be offered free admission to Hoi An Ancient Town on December 4.

With the general theme "25 years - Preserving and sustainably promoting the values ​​of the World Cultural Heritage of Hoi An Ancient Town", activities are held at many times of the year, peaking from November 23 to December 4, the main theme of the activity will be "Cultural heritage in our hearts and hands".

The key activities will be organized as follows: Discussion on the topic "Imprints on the journey of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage values ​​of Hoi An Ancient Town" (December 3).

Through the annual meeting between city leaders and organizations and individuals participating in the management, preservation and promotion of the world cultural heritage value of Hoi An Ancient Town, there were discussions, exchanges and information about the milestones on the journey of preserving and promoting the cultural heritage value of Hoi An Ancient Town in recent times.

The seminar will focus on the issues of thinking and measures to preserve cultural heritage from the early difficult days of the Party Committee, government and people of Hoi An; memorable stories and events in the early days of recognition as a world cultural heritage; experiences in heritage conservation and promotion; major orientations for conservation and promotion of heritage values ​​in the coming time...

On December 4, the city held a parade to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Hoi An Ancient Town being recognized as a World Cultural Heritage Site.

Publishing the collection of Research Information on 25 years of heritage conservation. Including a collection of research articles highlighting the process and achievements of 25 years of preserving the World Heritage Site of Hoi An Ancient Town.

Displaying publications about Hoi An and the activity “Learning about Monuments through books” at Thanh Hoa-Hoi An Library. Through the displayed books and activities, children in Hoi An can explore and learn about the monuments in the Old Quarter.

Exhibition "Hoi An through the eyes of the door" by artist Bao Ly

At Hoi An Museum, there will be an exhibition with the theme "Hoi An through the eyes of the door" at Hoi An Museum, introducing the image of Hoi An through the eyes of the door through the exhibition of a collection of 15 pairs of eyes of the door about the relics in the old town by artist Bao Ly; Hoi An Heritage Exhibition through paintings, displaying a collection of photos about Hoi An donated by artist Luu Cong Nhan to introduce to the public.
